(Lanka-e-News -13.Feb.2025, 11.00 PM) The Legal Officers' Association of the Attorney General's Department has issued this challenge to the government through a media statement released yesterday (12).
The statement was issued with the signature of the association's acting secretary, Tashya Gajanayake.
In the statement, the association expressed deep concern over certain misleading and factually incorrect statements circulating in the media regarding the directives issued by the Attorney General on January 27, 2025.
The association affirmed its utmost confidence in the Attorney General, his decisions, and the officials involved in the decision-making process, stating that they adhere to the highest traditions of the Attorney General’s Department and maintain their independent professional judgment.
Through this media statement, the Legal Officers' Association made it clear that they would not back down from defeating any attempt to remove the Attorney General from office.
There is one question that must be asked of the Legal Officers' Association: "Where were you when the Rajapaksas held a midnight court session to remove Shirani Bandaranayake from the Chief Justice position?"
