(Lanka-e-News -04.Feb.2025, 11.00 PM) Asad Mawlana, who has revealed serious details about the Easter bombings, is set to arrive in Sri Lanka, causing concern among certain groups who are now openly displaying their distress. Udaya Gammanpila, one of the key figures defending the Easter attackers, can be seen making loud statements once again. If they are confident in their innocence, figures like Pillayan, Suresh Saleh, and the Rajapaksa group, who have been accused of involvement in the Easter attacks, should come forward to confront Asad Mawlana. Instead of resorting to defamation and slander, the crucial information Asad Mawlana has provided to the international community cannot be ignored. This is a turning point.
Asad Mawlana has publicly stated, both before Channel 4 and the United Nations, that in January 2018, while he was imprisoned, Pillayan instructed him to organize a meeting between the extremist Saharan and Suresh Saleh’s group.
Regarding the assassination of Joseph Pararajasingham, Asad Mawlana claimed that, based on information received from Pillayan while in prison, he facilitated bail for a group, including Saind Moulavi. Later, this same group held a meeting with Suresh Saleh. Mawlana stated that he informed the group to gather in Puttalam, Karadipuwal, where discussions between Suresh Saleh and Saharan’s group took place. He further revealed that six individuals, including Saind Moulavi and Saharan’s brother, arrived in a white van, and the discussion lasted for an extended period.
According to Asad Mawlana’s testimony to Channel 4, after that meeting, Suresh Saleh told him, "The Rajapaksas need an unstable situation in Sri Lanka. That is the only way for Gotabaya to become President."
A source, who remained anonymous, told Channel 4 that Suresh Saleh was operating under the directives of Gotabaya Rajapaksa. In January 2019, Sri Lanka’s secret police discovered a safe house in Polwatta, Puttalam. Mawlana informed Channel 4 that this was the very place where Suresh Saleh and Saharan’s group had met.
He also stated that if the intelligence agencies had not misled the authorities, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) would have been able to establish the National Thowheed Jamaath (NTJ)’s involvement in the attacks without any doubt.
Before Gammanpila attempted to cover up the Easter attackers, Asad Mawlana had already accused Tuan Suresh Saleh of involvement in the attack on September 7, 2023, via Channel 4.
At Aliyar Junction in Kattankudy, a test bomb explosion injured Saharan’s brother, Rilwan. The doctor who treated him was a resident of Ebenezer Place in Dehiwala, coincidentally the same street where Asad Mawlana also owned a house. Mawlana claimed that, during his tenure as Pillayan’s secretary, he helped this doctor flee the country after the Easter attacks. This raises new questions.
Jameel, who arrived at the Taj Samudra Hotel to detonate a bomb, later traveled to the Ebenezer Mosque in Dehiwala, which was located near the home of the doctor who treated Saharan’s brother. Why did he specifically go there? Why didn’t he visit any other Muslim place of worship along the way? After making phone calls from the mosque, Jameel left an explosive vest at the Tropical Inn before blowing himself up.
The most puzzling incident was the disappearance of the phone Jameel used for these calls. If that phone had been recovered, it could have easily revealed the masterminds behind the Easter attack. However, the Imam Committee never recorded or questioned this crucial detail. Ultimately, Jameel died near Ebenezer Place, where the doctor who treated Saharan’s brother lived. The key question now is whether Jameel met this doctor.
With Asad Mawlana’s arrival, the investigation into the Easter attack is expected to take a new direction. His revelations have already exposed the connections between Pillayan and Saharan, which were further confirmed by a former LTTE member after the assassination of two Vavunathivu police officers.
The two T-56 rifles taken from the murdered police officers, which former military intelligence chief Chula Kodithuwakku initially claimed the LTTE had stolen, were later found in the Sainthamaruthu house where Saharan’s entire family committed mass suicide.
So, on what basis can Asad Mawlana’s testimony be dismissed?
