In Lanka’s land of ancient grace,
Where truth’s a game, a high-stakes chase,
A journalist dared to lift the veil,
And pen the tales some wished to pale.
Prageeth, the man with a fearless pen,
Wrote truths of power, of crooked men.
The Rajapaksa tree he drew so well,
A family forest with roots that smell.
He made his films, he wrote his lines,
On scandals thick as Lankan vines.
From deals in shadows to stolen gold,
He scribbled the stories that had to be told.
But January’s chill in twenty-ten,
Brought darkness down on this man of the pen.
Once kidnapped, freed, then taken anew,
By hands of the unseen, out of view.
"Disappeared," they say, such a tidy phrase,
For a man snatched up in the regime's haze.
His wife, dear Sandhya, holds the flame,
While rumors play their sinister game.
“Seen in Paris!” “No, in Dubai!”
The government spread its obvious lie.
But hope, like ink, begins to fade,
In the years since his last steps were made.
Fifteen years, and still no trace,
No word, no grave, no final place.
The man who stood for the people's fight,
Was stolen away in Lanka's night.
Oh Rajapaksas, your family tree,
Grows rotten fruit for all to see.
Prageeth's pen it drew the lines,
Exposing your crimes, your twisted designs.
Yet his voice remains, it echoes still,
Through every story, through every will.
For truth can’t vanish, nor justice sleep,
Though the cost of both runs cruel and deep.
So let us laugh at your feeble tales,
Of foreign sightings and bogus trails.
For Prageeth’s spirit, bold and bright,
Will haunt your halls in the dead of night.
And Sandhya, oh Sandhya, tireless and true,
Your fight for justice inspires the few.
Though hope may waver, it will not die,
For truth, like Prageeth, will never lie.
Fifteen years, yet Lanka still sings,
Of the journalist lost to despots and kings.
A ballad of courage, a tale of the brave,
For Prageeth, who wrote what no one would save.
