Justice Denied for Nalaka Silva..!

(Lanka-e-News -24.Nov.2024,11.40 pm) The public has not forgotten the infamous Maithri-Gotabaya Assassination Conspiracy Scandal of the former Ranil-Maithri coalition government.

Amid claims that the mastermind of the Easter Sunday attacks, Zahran, was on the verge of being apprehended, former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nalaka Silva became a victim of a staged drama orchestrated by police informant Namal Kumara. To this day, Nalaka Silva, currently in charge of the Puttalam Division, has not received justice.

Nalaka Silva joined the police service in 1999 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and is a contemporary of the current Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP). However, it remains uncertain when Nalaka will receive justice, even under the current administration. The primary obstacle appears to be none other than the current Acting IGP. The two were once close friends and even lived in adjacent residences at the Bambalapitiya police quarters.

However, following a later fallout, Nalaka Silva has endured severe retaliation, becoming the target of intense retribution. Despite being eligible for promotion to Senior DIG, his advancement has been delayed by the Acting IGP, who, along with Police Media Spokesman Nihal Thalduwa, challenged Nalaka Silva’s qualifications in a legal case. Although Nalaka was cleared of all charges, his promotion remains stalled.

Nalaka Silva, a senior officer of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), was one of the most experienced intelligence officials. If he had not been arrested under false accusations, many lives lost during the Easter Sunday attacks might have been saved.

Currently serving in the Puttalam Division, Nalaka's official residence is in a dilapidated state. Despite bringing this to the attention of the Acting IGP, no action has been taken to address the issue.

The public's hope for a just governance system should not fall victim to personal vendettas. True justice must prevail.
