(Lanka-e-News -24.Nov.2024,11.40 pm) It has come to light that a news report has been circulated in the media claiming that the Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, engaged in an inspection visit at the Kandy General Hospital, during which certain observations and shortcomings were pointed out.
However, it is emphasized that since assuming office, Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has not participated in any hospital inspections in Kandy or any other region in the country.
On the mentioned date, the Honorable Minister was present at the Ministry of Health in Colombo 10 from 9:00 AM to around 8:00 PM and had no opportunity to leave the premises.
During that time, the Minister held extensive discussions with representatives of seven key professional unions in the health sector and ministry officials regarding professional and service issues of health workers, as well as formulating forward-looking plans to strengthen the health sector.
Under such circumstances, it is reiterated that the Honorable Minister had no opportunity to conduct hospital inspections in Kandy or any other region on the 22nd.
The public is kindly requested to refrain from sharing or propagating such false news through social media, as it could cause unnecessary inconvenience to officials and institutions in the health sector.
