(Lanka-e-News -13.Nov.2024, 11.15 pm) Recently, during a religious event held at Medamulana Walawwa, former Hambantota Mayor Eraj Ravindra Fernando and Chamal Rajapaksa were having a conversation when Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived. At that moment, Eraj reportedly confronted Gotabaya, saying:
“You betrayed us. You destroyed the country. You even ruined Namal’s political career. Look, Anura Dissanayake and three others could lead this country beautifully, but even with a two-thirds majority, you couldn’t do it.”
Eraj then allegedly verbally attacked Gotabaya with profanities. Chamal Rajapaksa intervened to calm the situation, making a significant effort to defuse the tension. At that moment, Gotabaya reportedly wore a strained smile, reflecting a sense of sadness and helplessness, as if to say, “Even the ones I helped are now turning against me.”
