(Lanka-e-News -25.Oct.2024, 11.00 pm) There is currently a social media post circulating, urging public sector employees and officers of all levels to join a union under the name “National People’s Power Public Service Union.”
Firstly, we emphasize that there has been no discussion or intent to create such a union within the National Center for Trade Unions, which officially functions as the trade union arm of the National People’s Power (NPP).
Additionally, any union associated with the NPP is only established with the knowledge and approval of the National Center for Trade Unions. Therefore, if any union exists under the above name, it is a fake and fraudulent attempt to exploit the successful reputation of the NPP for private, narrow purposes.
As the National Center for Trade Unions, we are closely monitoring this matter. We appeal to the public not to be misled by any fake organizations posing under the NPP name.
