(Lanka-e-News -23.Oct.2024, 10.30 pm) In a demonstration of solidarity and swift action, China has stepped forward as the first country to provide emergency humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka in response to the severe floods that have recently devastated parts of the country. On this day, Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong met with President Anura Dissanayake and officially handed over 30 million LKR in emergency humanitarian relief funds to aid those affected by the disaster.
The funds, provided by the Chinese government, aim to support Sri Lanka in overcoming the challenges caused by the widespread flooding and assist in the rebuilding of homes and communities. During the meeting, Ambassador Qi expressed the deep sympathy of the Chinese people for the Sri Lankan people, emphasizing the close bond shared between the two nations.
"China stands with Sri Lanka during this difficult time," stated Ambassador Qi. "We believe that, under the leadership of President Anura Dissanayake, the Sri Lankan government and its people will rise above this disaster, rebuild their lives, and recover from the devastation."
