(Lanka-e-News -22.Oct.2024, 7.30 pm) In a world where car companies are shelling out billions in slick, shiny ads, desperate to steal Tesla’s market share, there’s one thing they forgot: Tesla doesn’t even bother spending on marketing—and still, it’s selling cars faster than they can plug them in. It’s like watching a chef sell out a restaurant without ever posting a menu. Why? Because when people trust the brand, they’ll pay in full before the product even rolls out of the factory.
That’s exactly what’s happening with the National People’s Power (NPP) in Sri Lanka. While other political parties are busy burning through airtime, social media rants, and probably a small forest’s worth of flyers, the NPP is cruising along like a Model S, gliding past the mud-slinging, finger-pointing competition with one thing none of them seem to have: credibility.
Just like car buyers blindly put down a deposit on a Tesla, believing in its unmatched performance, voters are putting their faith—and votes—into NPP politicians. There’s no need for flashy slogans or speeches with more twists than a conspiracy theory. Voters know the brand. They trust it. And when it comes to Sri Lankan politics, trust is rarer than a fully charged electric car in the middle of nowhere.
Meanwhile, the traditional political parties are looking like a crowd of vintage gas guzzlers, coughing up smoke as they scramble to keep up. They’re throwing everything at NPP—insults, accusations, probably even a few kitchen sinks—hoping that something will stick. It’s like watching someone try to throw spaghetti at a Tesla. Spoiler: it’s not going to work.
But unlike the others, the NPP doesn’t need to rev its engine every five minutes to remind people it’s still in the race. The party’s credibility has become its best advertisement. It’s like Tesla selling cars while everyone else is still figuring out where to plug in the charger.
So, while the rest of Sri Lanka’s political players burn fuel—and probably some of their last remaining brain cells—trying to derail the NPP, the party keeps moving forward, silently, efficiently, and with the power of a trusted brand behind it. Like Tesla, they don’t need to shout to be heard. Their record speaks for itself.
And just like Tesla will probably take over the world one electric vehicle at a time, don’t be surprised when NPP pulls ahead in the polls—no billion-dollar marketing budget required.
