Are They Mad? Is the Examination Department Changing its Address? Massive Fake Certificate Scam in the IT Section..!

-By A Special Correspondent

(Lanka-e-News -21.Oct.2024, 7.30 pm) Reports reaching Lanka E-News suggest that the Department of Examinations, which has long managed to maintain some semblance of order despite corruption, inefficiency, and negligence plaguing many state institutions, has now turned into a madhouse. The Commissioner General of Examinations is in chaos, particularly after a question paper compiler hired from the National Institute of Education leaked parts of the Grade 5 Scholarship Exam paper. The Commissioner is struggling to regain control of this “madhouse.”

The ‘Sir’ Madman – Nandana Jayasinghe

Nandana Jayasinghe, who started as a laborer handling paperwork, is now acting Director of the IT section of the Department, allegedly responsible for creating fake examination certificates. He is notorious for abusing his power against lower-ranking officials who don’t address him as “Sir.”

According to reports, the Commissioner of Examinations (Technology), an officer selected by the Public Service Commission through an interview process, has been blocked from entering the IT section due to the criminal activities of Nandana and his gang. A national newspaper recently reported that Nandana, who is supposed to be acting as the Additional Commissioner General, has even forged an official rubber stamp for himself. The online services of the department have been disrupted because many letters sent without Nandana’s fabricated title are being returned without being processed by the IT section.

Fake Qualifications

It has been revealed that Nandana, who holds the acting Director post, presented a fake certificate from a UK university. Shockingly, he claims to have completed a postgraduate degree in English, though he doesn’t even know the alphabet! Even more astonishing is that his fake certificate has been accepted as legitimate by top officials at the Isurupaya and Public Service Commission. Allegations suggest that his wife, Lathisha Liyanage, who holds a high-ranking position in the state administrative service, intervened to get the certificate recognized. It is well-known that they also used backdoor methods to get their children admitted to medical college.

The ‘Pus’ Madman – Ravi Jayasekara

Ravi Jayasekara, an incompetent Assistant Director, is Nandana’s right-hand man. Lacking any IT knowledge, Ravi is aiming to become the Additional Commissioner General once Nandana retires in six months. In the meantime, the department has had to hire an external private company to cover Ravi’s work due to his incompetence. Incidentally, Ravi’s wife also works in the IT section, making the Examination Department one of the only state institutions where an entire family works in such a sensitive department.

Fake Certificate Scandal

All passwords to the examination data system are held by Nandana. Complaints have surfaced that investigating the wealth he has amassed and the frequent foreign trips he takes could reveal the fake certificate racket that has been running inside the department for years.

The Examination Commissioner

While Nandana and Ravi wreak havoc and engage in scams, the Examination Commissioner is reportedly silent, doing nothing but expressing concerns in a whiny voice. The department’s employees claim that the Ministry of Education is also turning a blind eye to the complaints, prompting them to file reports with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and the new Minister of Education, urging them to investigate the IT section.

The ‘Little Hulk’

Adding to the madness is a Commissioner General, known as the “Little Hulk,” who is also vying for the top post while covering up his own misdeeds. Despite being ordered to leave the department for tampering with an administrative examination result, he has clung to his position, leveraging a political connection with Akila Viraj Kariyawasam. He now aims to impress the new Minister of Education to secure his role. (More details about ‘Little Hulk’ with photos and evidence will be revealed soon.)

With the possibility of the Department of Examinations’ address changing from Pelawatta, Battaramulla, to Mulleriyawa or Angoda (both places known for psychiatric hospitals), Lanka E-News hopes that the authorities will open their eyes before it’s too late.
