(Lanka-e-News -05.Oct.2024, 5.20 pm) A brawl broke out at the Colombo Book Fair, held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall premises, where a security officer at the stall belonging to the Sarasavi Bookshop got into an argument with a customer. The security officer then struck the customer, causing a head injury.
However, when the police arrived, instead of arresting the assailant, they detained well-known YouTube journalist Kalpa Gunaratne, who had reported the incident, and subjected him to harassment. The police officer responsible for this misconduct has been identified as CI Niyomal. A video of the incident can be viewed below
