Anura’s First Government: 3 Ministerial Posts, 15 Ministries, and Harini as Prime Minister.! Here Are the Secretaries..!

(Lanka-e-News -24.Sep.2024, 11.30 pm) In President Anura Dissanayake’s first government, there will be only 3 ministerial positions and 15 ministries. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Office. Vijitha Herath has also been sworn in as a minister.

Dr. Harini is the third female Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and the first with a doctorate. Shortly after being sworn in, she assumed duties at the Prime Minister's Office.

The National People’s Power (NPP) held only 3 parliamentary seats. After Anura became President, Lakshman Nipunaarachchi was officially appointed to fill the vacant seat. Instead of turning this into a joke by granting a ministerial post for one day, the President has decided to appoint only 3 ministers.

Here are the ministries under President Anura Dissanayake:

1. Ministry of Defense
2. Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, Policy Formulation, Planning, and Tourism
3. Ministry of Energy
4. Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Livestock, Irrigation, Fisheries, and Water Resources

Ministries under Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya:

1. Ministry of Justice, Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, Local Government, and Labor
2. Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology
3. Ministry of Women's, Children's, and Youth Affairs and Sports
4. Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Safety, Cooperatives, Industry, and Entrepreneurship Development
5. Ministry of Health

Ministries under Minister Vijitha Herath:

1. Ministry of Buddhist Affairs, Religious and Cultural Affairs, National Unity, Social Security, and Media
2. Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation
3. Ministry of Public Safety
4. Ministry of Foreign Affairs
5. Ministry of Environment, Wildlife, Forest Resources, Water Supply, Plantations, and Community Infrastructure
6. Ministry of Rural and Urban Development, Housing, and Construction

The President has appointed 15 ministry secretaries for these 15 ministries, along with a Secretary to the Prime Minister and a Cabinet Secretary, making it 17 secretaries in total. The appointed secretaries are:

President Anura Dissanayake is expected to deliver a special address to the nation tomorrow night. It is likely that Parliament will be dissolved at midnight tonight. When the relevant gazette is issued, the dates for submitting nominations and holding the parliamentary election will be announced.

The Election Commission has stated that they are prepared for any election. According to the Commission, the election must be held between 52 to 66 days from the date Parliament is dissolved. The Commission also mentioned that the funds required for the election should be provided by the Treasury upon the President's order.

President Anura Dissanayake has shown the country how efficiently he can work without wasting any time.
