New President Makes a Series of Appointments..! More Changes Tomorrow..!

(Lanka-e-News -23.Sep.2024, 11.30 pm) Following the appointment of Anura Dissanayake as the new President, several key appointments have been made. Among them, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumara has been appointed as the Secretary to the President. Nandika Sanath Kumara is a graduate of the University of Kelaniya and is currently serving in Sri Lanka Customs. He has also been involved in research related to international trade, development economics, corruption, and integrity.

Meanwhile, Ananda Wijepala, an officer in the administrative sector, has been appointed as Anura's Private Secretary. Wijepala previously served as the Director of the Rehabilitation Authority and later as the Director of the Dangerous Drugs Control Board. He also served as the Private Secretary to Anura Kumara Dissanayake during his tenure as the Cabinet Minister for Agriculture, Irrigation, Lands, and Livestock.

Additionally, Wijepala served as the Director at the Secretariat of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

Another notable appointment is the new Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ravi Seneviratne. The Police Media Division issued a statement confirming that Ravi Seneviratne has assumed duties at the Ministry of Public Security, located on the 18th floor of Suhurupaya, Battaramulla.

Meanwhile, following Anura Dissanayake's election as President, the vacant Colombo District Parliamentary seat has been filled by former MP Lakshman Nipuna Arachchi, who was next in line on the Colombo District preferential list. The Election Commission has already issued a gazette notification confirming this appointment.

Tomorrow (24), it is expected that a new Prime Minister will be appointed from among the three Members of Parliament of the National People's Power (NPP). Additionally, a Cabinet consisting of four members, including Anura, will be appointed, with 15 ministries to be assigned under their jurisdiction.
