Sajith’s Fear of Debates and the Hiru Malakuna Show..!

(Lanka-e-News -15.Sep.2024, 11.30 pm) Although Sajith Premadasa often shouts loudly from the stage, he is utterly afraid of engaging in debates. In the past, Sajith had this challenge when Ranil Wickremesinghe assigned Nalin and Harsha to engage in a debate with Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Sajith, bringing up various illogical reasons, avoided the debate multiple times. One of his main excuses was that the debate was being aired on a state-owned media channel. Interestingly, later, Sajith’s team appeared on independent television networks, where his logic was dismantled publicly on state channels.

The Latest: Hiru Malakuna

Up until now, Sajith has not participated in any live interactive TV shows. This is a significant blow to his pride and the few remaining supporters he has. In an attempt to redeem himself, Hiru TV organized a show where, surprisingly, they made a full 180-degree turn to accommodate Sajith’s preferences. Although the program was advertised as live, it was pre-recorded. The recording has already been completed.

Jalani’s Complaints..

The recording session lasted hours, with multiple edits, and was overseen by Jalani Premadasa from the studio itself. When Sajith, frustrated by the lengthy session, suggested resuming the recording the following day, he faced a long rant from Jalani. After five to six hours of frustration, they managed to wrap up the show.

The issue now is that this live recording deception is coming to light. Even the Election Commission is reportedly paying attention. Now, Sajith faces a dilemma: either he airs it as a pre-recorded show, further confirming his fear of debates, or he takes on a live broadcast with questions from Hiru’s trained reporters, led by Chamuditha, to save face.

Anura’s Triumph in “Satana”

The most dangerous blow for Sajith came from Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s appearance on the "Sirasa Satana" debate program last night (14th). Anura, after addressing four massive rallies in Anuradhapura, Kuliyapitiya, Pannala, and Mirigama, without any notes or mistakes, confidently engaged in the over three-hour live debate, affirming his status as the likely next president. The body language of Sirasa’s reporters indicated that Anura had already secured victory. Over 100,000 people watched the live broadcast via Sirasa's YouTube channel, marking it as a historic program. People gathered in groups, watching the debate on large screens, much like a cricket match.
