(Lanka-e-News -14.Sep.2024, 11.30 pm)  Anura Kumara Dissanayake made history on September 13, 2024, by becoming the first presidential candidate to address seven major public rallies in one day. He spoke at rallies in Ampara, Monaragala, Akkaraipattu, Oluvil, Nindavur, Sammanthurai, and Sainthamaruthu. Reports indicate that these rallies saw an unprecedented number of participants, including large crowds from the Tamil and Muslim communities in the Eastern Province.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Anura Kumara Dissanayake is preparing to rewrite Sri Lankan electoral history, as he continues to connect with the hearts and minds of the people he meets.

The concept of a “prosperous country and a beautiful life,” aimed at ending 76 years of corrupt, opportunistic politics and leading the nation towards a new era of renaissance, has already been embraced by the people, as evidenced by the large gatherings at Anura Kumara’s rallies. Both local and international survey agencies have acknowledged this shift, and international media have reported on it as well.

However, a group of detractors has launched a massive smear campaign against him. Religious leaders like Mihintale Nayaka Thero and Pahiyangala Ananda Sagara Thero, among others, have resorted to shamelessly exploiting the Buddhist doctrine in their efforts to defame Anura. Despite these attacks, Anura Kumara garnered immense respect at a rally in Baddegama, where a venerable monk emotionally asked him to rebuild the country and make it self-sufficient so that people can live with dignity.

During a rally in Digana, while Anura Kumara was addressing the crowd, he received a small note informing him that a child had gone missing. The note requested that the message be shared with the public. The child, Anuhas Hettiarachchi, had gone missing while watching the rally with his grandmother. Anura immediately paused his speech and asked the attendees to help locate the missing child. This moment of compassion deeply touched the crowd, and Anuhas was soon found. The people responded by giving Anura a standing ovation, showing their admiration and respect for him.

Gaining the love and respect of people from all communities, Anura Kumara Dissanayake continues to win hearts as a leader. He has provided all Sri Lankans with hope and a new vision, and we eagerly await to see how his leadership will bring significant positive change to the nation.
