(Lanka-e-News -12.Sep.2024, 10.30 pm) As the leader of the Tamil Party, I am calling on all Tamils in the Northeast to cast their vote for the National People’s Power (NPP) in the upcoming elections, it was the wish of late TNA leader Mr Sambanthan, who was very close to NPP leader , Anura Kumara, The NPP is a political force that stands without any racial or divisive agenda, a rare quality in the Sri Lankan political landscape. This party has earned significant popularity, not only among the majority Sinhalese but also among the Muslim community in the South. It's time for Tamils to recognize this rising movement and be a part of it.
The NPP leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, envisions a new Sri Lanka—one that is united, inclusive, and built on justice and equality for all. He is calling on every Sri Lankan, regardless of ethnicity, to join hands in rebuilding the country. This is a golden opportunity for the Tamil people to engage in a political process that promises to create a united nation where Tamils can prosper and have greater opportunities.
Our Tamil Homeland Party is not just supporting the NPP leader; we are also appealing to the entire Tamil diaspora to back this new movement. Anura Kumara is a leader who connects with the people on a personal level—he is humble, down-to-earth, and sincere in his efforts to unite the country. He asks for contributions from every citizen to help rebuild Sri Lanka, a vision that resonates deeply with our own struggles in the Northeast.
For decades, the Northeast has suffered immense loss and devastation, both in terms of human life and livelihood. We have been disconnected from the South, and it’s time to re-establish that link with a Southern leader we can trust. At this juncture, we cannot trust leaders like Ranil Wickremesinghe or Sajith Premadasa. Both have ties to the UNP regime, which has a dark history of repression and violence against Tamils, particularly during the civil war when thousands of our brothers and sisters were killed.
On the other hand, Anura Kumara Dissanayake has consistently stood by the Tamil people. He is seen as a brother who understands our suffering and issues. He is the only leader capable of uniting us with the South and fostering true national reconciliation. By voting for the NPP, the Tamils of the Northeast will not only be contributing to the creation of one united Sri Lanka but also ensuring that development and progress reach our region.
The Tamil Homeland Party firmly believes that Anura Kumara is the national leader who can bring about the change we need. He offers a vision of equality, justice, and development for all regions of Sri Lanka, including the Northeast. We urge all Tamils to vote for the NPP and support a future where our community can finally thrive within a united Sri Lanka.
