(Lanka-e-News- 17.Feb.2015, 11.55PM) The new government made a number of major changes yesterday in the ranks of the army to release it from the evil grip of the Rajapakses .Accordingly a number of major generals and brigadiers who were victimized by ex defense secretary Gotabaya , and were recently reinstated have now been given stable posts noted hereunder :
Major general Mahesh Senanayake as War secretary replacing Major general Amala Karunasekera who is transferred as the commanding officer , Wanni.
Brigadier Duminda Keppetiwalana as Director operations.
Major general Sumedha Perera the ex chief of staff who was implicated in the recent army conspiracy has been transferred as commander of the STF , central province , and is replaced by major general B.A. Perera.
Major general Mano Perera in charge of central province has been appointed as Director sports.
Major general Lal Perera commander in chief of the east and major general Boniface Perera as commander in chief of Wanni . Both became notorious for their corrupt activities. They were transferred to the army headquarters and office of the chief of staff respectively.
Major general Nandana Udawatte has been appointed the commander in chief of the east and Major general Channa Gunatileke is appointed as projects Director.
Major general Kamal Gunaratne as the war equipment master.
Major general Udaya Perera is transferred to the officer training Institute , Batalanda.
In addition 7 Brigadiers have been prompted to the rank of major general. This appointment takes effect retrospectively from the 13 th. Their names are as follows :
Brigadier Mihindu Kulasekera executive corps , Minneriya
Brigadier Ajith Wickremesinghe Director (supplies and transport ) headquarters .
Brigadier Ruwan Kulatunge , Vice chancellor ,Kotalawala defense academy
Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarachi , commander in chief 23 rd corps
Brigadier Kumudu Perera , commander in chief 55 th corps.
Brigadier Nandana Senadeera commander in chief 11 th corps
Brigadier Rohana Bandara commander In chief 24 th corps.
The army commander is due for retirement towards the end of this month while major general Rajitha De Silva who was a victim of Gotabaya’s venom and vengeance is continuing to be treated with indifference by the present government. If he is reinstated in service he will no doubt be the choice for army commander post going by his seniority and because he is not tainted by any charges . Of the 14 victims of Gotabaya , it is only Rajitha de Silva who had not been reinstated . Lanka e news highlighted this in an earlier report and questioned this.
Though major general Krishantha De Silva is above on seniority, it was Krishantha who was sent to kill nearly 1500 individuals who surrendered with white flags by Jagath Jayasuriya on instructions of Gotabaya. It is on this account Krishantha was sent by Gotabaya as a deputy to a Sri Lankan envoy abroad.
Now , since Royalists are holding sway in the hierarchy and Krishantha De Silva is himself an old Royalist , pressure is being exerted to appoint De Silva as the army commander.
On the other hand , in case De Silva is appointed as the army commander definitely there are prospects of war crime charges being resurrected because such an individual who is directly involved in the war crimes being appointed as the army commander by this government for good governance which indiscretion even the Rajapakse regime did not commit , can trigger grave international complications and issues.
Besides , it is only an officer who had been a commander of a regiment who should become an army commander . Krishantha De Silva had never been such a commander .He is unable to tell what happened to his group in the Jayasikuru operations. He does not know what quantity of weapons were seized from the LTTE . Owing to his incompetence , he was thereafter never enlisted any day to give commands during war operations ,and never was he appointed as a commander of a regiment.
The next man in line on eligibility for the post is major general Rambukpotha

A welcome change if not for the appointment of Jayasooriya cronies leading to a defacto Gota Army. Almost all important appointment holders were front line anti Fonseka group under Jayasooriya. Hope the President and his cabinet correct things before its too late. Some observations;
MG BA Perera - junior to most others, not had any combat experience for over 10 - 15 years. Was bootlicking MG Rohitha Rajapakshe as head of Army Rugger. A crone of Jayasooriya.
MG Kamal Gunaratne - A worshiper of Gota and other rajapakshs. Brought down from Brazil for Presidentail election.
MG Udaya Perera - Another Gajaba person. Was deputy High Commissioner in Malaysia. Strong suppoter of Gota.
Hope the Government will open eyes and rectify the errors.
Victor.

Jayasooriya, the lickspittle that brought shame to the Armoured Corps by licking Rajapaksa's while his wife was serviced by his commando driver needs to be sent home. These men have ruined the professionalism that once existed in the army until Gota had the reign!
