Trump’s opponents protest (video )
(Lanka-e-News -13.Nov.2016, 11.30PM) One of the fundamental requirements of Democracy is conceding victory to the candidate who won on the votes of the majority of the people .In America this Democratic requirement is not followed . Although Hilary Clinton won with a larger number of votes , she has been declared the loser and Donald Trump who polled less votes has won. This is because of the election system in the U.S.
The number of votes polled by Hilary Clinton is : 60,839, 922 (47.78 % of the votes) as against Trump who polled only 60, 265,858 votes (47.33 %) .Accordingly ,Hilary has polled 574,064 votes more than Trump.
Simultaneously with the presidential election , members are appointed to the Senate and the lower assembly . The candidate who is the leader of the team with the representation exceeding 270 members is declared the winner .Trump won with 290 representatives which is in excess of 270. In other words , the wishes of the majority of people is rejected.
Tens of Thousand of people took to the streets today to protest that Trump is not their president. The main slogan of theirs was ‘Racist sexist anti Gay Trump go away.’
The Sri Lankans who are loquacious about the new election system here should study this queer system profoundly with a view to minimize the errors in our own proposed election system.

crooked killary is responsible for deaths of the ambassador and other americans in bengazi. the media and all the liberals in US went after Trump . But there was a political revolution in US and helped to make trump the President elect with 306 electoral college votes . crooked killary got only 220 something. Now Obama , Killary with Soros creating riots in the US. So unfortunate.

Any candidate should know as to how he or she would be declared winner in any race before it started. So Hilary getting more votes is irrelevant as system say it is who gets 270 electorate wins the race. The result of American President also disprove another myth that media barons decides who leads the country and whose party govern the country. Hilary got unprecedented support from all big media establishments in America in her runner up to the Presidency. But those funds and support could not make her the President of America.
Media barons and establishments please note that your glory days of putting your puppet in to power is over. This is also rude awakening to those media barons and establishments who thinks that they can fool all the people all the time although they succeed in fooling some of the people all the time.
These media establishments now embarking next obvious steps that is to galvanized people in losing side to protest. This will run its course but will not have energy to last long .
Specially TV channels please be aware that there is a gadget call remote control in the hands of all viewers and there are many channels to pick for entertainment and news. So do not work towards that people reject channels who tries to place their choice of people in to power by unjustifiable criticism of individuals and political parties who are already in power. This is very applicable to Sri Lankan TV channels and Sri Lanka politics.
