(Lanka-e-News -22.Sep.2016, 9.30PM) Needless to recall , during the past nefarious decade , it were the cruel and wicked rulers who nibbled at everything good belonging to the country like rats , and were responsible for the wanton devastation of precious books and libraries . They ruthlessly and callously destroyed the entire library of precious books and reading material of Lanka e News collected over a period exceeding 40 years . If these rascals who caused the conflagration have robbed the books and gone away , at least we can feel happy that somebody somewhere is reading them . Sadly, these bestial rulers now rightly discarded by the people did not have that humaneness . They saw to it that everything was reduced to ashes.
The masses who threw out that Medamulana brute of a ruler lock, stock and barrel on January 8 th have now fortunately appointed new rulers who value books and reading material.
The present Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is a well read leader and an avid reader , who has a book by his side to read whenever he has even a little free time. Herein are some photographs when he visited the leading Book exhibition of Sri Lanka at the BMICH on the 20 th which is held once a year.
