Sri Lanka's first ever coronavirus death reported

(Lanka-e-News -28.March.2020, 10.30PM) Sri Lanka's first death due to coronavirus reported in today. A 60-year-old male patient from Marawila, while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the IDH Hospital, has died. The Director General of Health Services, Dr. Anil Jasinghe has officially declared that he was suffering from a kidney transplant a few years ago and was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.

But the first Sri Lankan to die of coronavirus was reported in Switzerland only a few days ago. He was a Tamil-Sri Lankan who had migrated to Switzerland and had lived there with half a citizenship. He was 59 years old and was born in Punguduthivu, Jaffna, in Sri Lanka. He lived the village of Jonah in the Rapeseel canton, in Swiss. He had been advised to stay home and engage in self-quarantine. The neighbor, who came serve breakfast to him on the 26th, rang the bell several times, but patient did not open the door. Neighbor was informed to authorities then patient was found dead on the night of the 25th. His funeral was held in Switzerland. He is also a diabetic patient.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Corona data report this evening said: The total number of infections is 113. 103 patients receiving treatment 7 new cases reported today. 1 death. Nine have gone home after recovering completely. 5 patients in critical condition. The proportion of patients diagnosed per 1 million of the population is 5.

The Medical Association warns that Sri Lanka's tragic period may be between 4 and 11 April.
