(Lanka-e-News -24.Nov.2015, 11.00PM) 26 th November is the day of the birth anniversary of former LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. Handbills were pasted in Vavuniya and the North on the 20 th inviting people to mark the ‘Heroes day’ to be commemorated on the 26 th and 27 th of November this year.
Though such handbills were pasted in a row at public places under the name of Tamil liberation Tigers organization , the police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said , the police did not come across such handbills.
In any case pasting of such handbills and posters is illegal , and if the police notice , the police would take immediate action to remove them , and those responsible will be apprehended ,the police media spokesman pointed out. There is no law that permits the commemoration of a terrorist leader at a public place . Hence under no circumstances can a leader of the LTTE , a proscribed organization be commemorated , the police media spokesman exhorted. Those who engage in such illegal activities will be arrested and brought before the law , he added.
