(Lanka-e-News- 09.Oct.2015, 11.00PM) The petition filed in the supreme court (SC) by former minister and communist party secretary DEW Gunasekera praying for a declaration from court that the national list published before elections being changed after elections when the national list M.P. loses at elections, is void was rejected by court today.DEW Gunasekera was a UPFA national list M.P. who was not appointed because he lost at elections. The three judges panel that heard the petition yesterday dismissed the petition.
The court said , the court has no powers to go against a resolution that has been signed by the speaker of parliament .
Consequently , DEW ‘s dew drops turned into tear drops. His final pipe dream to become an M.P. before finally resting in peace went up in smoke. May we recall , it is this same DEW an M.P. then who flew high though he is in tear drops now, who remained as silent as the grave when Basil Rajapakse was appointed as M.P. even when he was not a candidate in the national list who was defeated or who contested elections.
The three judges bench comprised justices Buwaneka Aluvihara, Upali Abeyratne and SisiraDe Abrew.
