‘Life span of oil lamp never shortens for with one, thousands can be lit -Ranil in his historic speech at Japanese parliament

(Lanka-e-News- 07.Oct.2015, 9.30PM) ‘At the juncture when the present national government of Sri Lanka (SL) has come close to the top economically  in south east Asia , it is hoped Japan  will extend its support towards  the progressive march of the country . With one oil lamp thousands of it can be lit. Therefore the life span  of the oil lamp never shortens. By sharing and building there will never be a day  without  joy,’ said   Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe recalling  the Buddhist precepts when he addressed the Japanese parliament to deliver  a special memorial  sermon  last morning.

A large group including MPs, special invitees and distinguished guests congregated at the special assembly hall of the parliament yesterday (06) this forenoon  on this special occasion.

Towards national reconciliation and peace in Sri Lanka , the assistance of Japan is expected , said the prime minister. In order to resuscitate the economy and develop the society in the regions that are affected  by the war , the P.M. sought the assistance of the  Japanese government  in order to  hold a conference with a view to secure aid.

The prime minister (P.M.) prefaced  his speech  by saying , president Maithripala Sirisena , the SL parliament and  Sri Lankan people  convey their warmest greetings to the Japanese emperor, the Japanese P.M. , their government , and the people of Japan.

The P.M. said in his speech , he is having immense confidence and implicit faith that at a time when the new government of SL is hoping to stabilize the economy and maintain a high growth rate , the Japanese government will step in to be a main investor.

It is worthy of note Ranil Wickremesinghe is the third political leader to have addressed the Japanese parliament. Previously , America’s president Barack Obama and Indian P.M. Narendra Mody have addressed the Japanese parliament ,and delivered lectures.

Following the full half hour sermon  , the ministers of Japan and  MPs led by P.M. Sensho Abe of the Japanese parliament rose from their seats to clap  hands to applaud  Ranil Wickremesinghe for several minutes continuously.

PM. of Japan Sensho Abe , who invited  Ranil Wickremesinghe to address the parliament stated thus :

Ranil Wickremesinghe has visited Japan on more than 8 occasions. His relationship with Japan is very  close and is an  old friend of Japan. During this tour alone , he and I met twice.

The speech made by Late J. R. Jayawardena  a former SL president who is a maternal uncle of Ranil Wickremesinghe  changed the destiny of Japan. It is Jayawardena who sent a message across the world regarding Japan by his speech at San Fransisco conference.

My grandfather also was a prime minister of Japan. It is most noteworthy , via  results of two elections democratically  held in the same year ,the president of SL and the P.M. were  elected at both elections . This is something unique.  Ranil Wickremesinghe continuing as a close and personal friend of mine in the future too is guaranteed, the Japanese P.M. asserted.

Minister of foreign affairs  Mangala Samaraweera , Finance minister Ravi Karunanayake,  minister of science , technology and research , Susil Premajayantha , high rung representatives of SL, and professor Mrs. Maithri Wickremesinghe also attended the event

This is factually incorrect. Ranil has only addressed a group of lower house MPs. Please respond and show that you are impartial.
