If Rajapakse can hypocritically carry children, why not Marthripala carry a garden fork on his shoulder

(Lanka-e-News -20.Sep.2015, 6.40PM) President Maithripala Sirisena came to the open with a garden fork , and with him the camera team . Of course , if by all this , the intention is for publicity and  some propaganda , certainly nothing is wrong in that.

A cleaning campaign was conducted at the Galle face beach last morning (19) led by the president Maithripala Sirisena to mark the international coastal cleaning day which is held every year on the third  Saturday in the month of September . This was  also  aimed  at popularizing the importance among the people of cleaning of beaches.

The mayor of Colombo, Mega police minister Champika Ranawake and provincial council minister Gamini Thilakasiri participated in this campaign.

Of course carrying a fork on the shoulder is infinitely better for publicity purposes than carrying a child to please the latter’s parents for hypocritical reasons after making payment and taking photographs to boost the image of the hypocrite.

In any case , it will be in the better  interests of all  like in developed countries if these personal image boosting shramadana campaigns and so called voluntary efforts are utilized and channelled towards a national plan. If there is anyone who is truly thinking on these constructive lines , they can make their inquiries to us . We shall be able to guide and direct them duly, supported with  copious valuable information.
