(Lanka-e-News- 12.Sep.2015, 11.30PM) The former IGP Mahinda Balasuriya , a lickspittle and shameless lackey of the Rajapakse, who also became the secretary to the ministry of law and public order , and later fled the country with the successful rainbow revolution of Sri Lanka (SL) on 8 th January, has now returned to the country on the sly, based on reports reaching Lanka e news inside division.
The pro government of good governance supporters are vehemently demanding that Balasuriya is arrested and investigations launched pertaining to the offences of his including the crimes committed by him , suppression thereof , abuse of his official position and misuse of power.
It is a matter for grave significance that when Prageeth Ekneliyagoda was abducted it was Balasuriya who was the IGP and in charge of all police operations.The editorial board of Lanka e news informed Balasuriya that, the day following the night of the aduction one of those who came to abduct Prageeth had taken a call and that had been recorded by the Girithale communication tower at about 1.00 p.m. This was promptly intimated to the IGP. The latter however for some inscrutable reason did not take any action to investigate this.
Now it has come to light that Prageeth had been detained at Girithale military camp for three days after his abduction. Surely the IGP was fully aware of this , otherwise , why did n’t he follow up on a most vital piece of information we provided? Had an immediate investigation been launched ,Prageeth could have been saved.
Precious life of a citizen of this country was lost because of the indifference shown by Balasuriya and his dereliction of duties. This alone is enough ground to arrest Balasuriya and questioned. The CID officers should be insisted upon to probe into this.
It is a glaring fact that Balasuriya was responsible for the ruthless killing of 21 years old Roshan Chanaka Ratnasekera in 2011; permanently disabling several innocents ;and injuring over 200 unarmed employees of the Katunayake free trade zone . Balasuriya as IGP at that time after admitting his wrong in this ghastly gory incident went on retirement despite the fact that there are no laws in the country that metes out such lenient punishment of simply sending a serious wrongdoer like Balasuriya on retirement ,after committing the heinous crimes of shooting and ruthlessly killing citizens of the country. Hence it is a most crucial question , who gave this unlawful order permitting him to go on retirement? Even after Mahinda Balasuriya admitting his guilt , if he still enjoyed impunity and went on retirement , punishment must be duly meted out to him now.
The next grave accusation is : based on the first statement made by notorious heroin dealer Wele Sudha ex IGP Balasuriya accepted kickbacks from the heroin Kingpin. In addition , Wele Sudha had stated he bought a luxurious bungalow for Balasuriya. In the circumstances ,shouldn’t Balasuriya be arrested immediately for aiding and abetting in drug business, and interrogated..?
Moreover, when Balasuriya was the secretary to the ministry of law and order , during the last presidential election , he got directly and unlawfully involved in the election campaign of ex president Mahinda Rajapakse . He also overrode the IGP while giving illegal orders partial towards the Rajapakses , and spent public funds of his ministry for the Rajapakse campaign,meaning that he is liable to be arrested at once and questioned.
It is well for the officials and the politicians to bear in mind that the people of the country did not twice defeat the brutal ,lawless , criminal and corrupt Rajapakse regime in order to protect or allow the wrongdoers (protected by the earlier regime) to escape from the arms of the law ,or for these officials and politicians to make false claims that there are no charges tainting KP, an LTTE leader.
These villainous officials and traitorous politicos must take note that until 2020 the people are going to take a ‘no nonsense’ attitude with the change of the political lanscape. Hence these sinister characters will not be tolerated if they try to sleep embracing the wrongdoing ‘dogs’ after saying ‘ now okay.’ If the administrators of the country sleep with the stray dogs on pavements , it is the people who will have to suffer the consequences , for they will be compelled to wake up amidst the fleas.
