Major General Gamini Bandara giving false evidence to save Gotabaya courts disaster ! a life time lesson to others of his ilk

(Lanka-e-News -05.Sep.2015, 10.45PM) An inforgettable lesson was taught yesterday(04) during the special presidential commission proceedings  to those who give false evidence to save Gotabaya Rajapakse, a name synonymous with  brutalities and criminalities in Sri Lanka.

The report of Manopriya Gunasekera , a reporter for Lankadeepa  is hereunder which clearly reveals what fate befalls those who give evidence to rescue the most notorious, sinister monstrous   Gotabaya who ruthlessly plundered innocent people’s assets with impunity, and conducted himself most high handedly abducting innocent citizens in the criminal white van and killing them like mice, owing to which egregious cirmes , the country because of Gotabaya  lost its whole civilised image  and earned the disrepute as a most barbaric state..

Mnanopriya Gunasekera reported thus :

The presidential commission investigating monumental corruption and malpractices, yesterday (4)  ordered  retired major general Gamini Jayasundara , the general manager  , ground division of Rakna Lanka security service , to show cause why he should not be punished legally for contempt of court , and perjury he committed by giving false evidence before court .

This order was issued by court to this retired army general who  disgraced the country’s  entire forces and insulted his own high rank in the army ,  by blatantly and shamelessly lying  in court.

He said in court ,it is  his infinite  love and respect for ex defense secretary Gotabaya that impelled  him to tell lies on the earlier occasion before the presidential commission , and also it was to safeguard Gotabaya , in spite of the retired major general making oath after oath before the commission that he was  telling the truth and nothing but the truth.

The panel of judges warning the retired major general said , a high ranking officer of the forces committing perjury in court is a very serious offence. It is possible for the court to  take it lightly  if an ordinary soldier or an illiterate witness gives false evidence , but in this case , it is a high rung officer of the forces who had given false evidence deliberately under oath . Therefore that cannot be considered as trifling , the court declared. The court informed the shameless major general , to seek the assistance of a lawyer or appear with a lawyer.

The judges of the Presidential commission comprised  High court judges, Preethi Padman Surasena (president of the panel), Amendra Seneviratne, Vikum Kaluarachi, Gihan Kulatunge and  retired auditor general P.A. Padmatileke.

After the conclusion of examination of witnesses , the retired major general Gamini Bandara Wijesundara Jayasundara was summoned before the commission. The president of the commission Surasena questioned the retired major general whether he treated the commission as a joke after swearing that he will  tell the truth and nothing but the truth

The president of the panel also asked the retired major general whether like how he thought the commission is a joke, he is thinking of treating the whole judiciary  as a joke? The president of the panel  sternly warned the major general that at the next court  date , he should give answers duly to the questions asked.

Judge Gihan Kulatunge also questioning the retired major general asked ‘aren’t you a major general ?’ and went on to warn  , if an illiterate or somebody of low status in society or an ordinary soldier had committed this disgraceful perjury , that wont be considered as this grave , but when a high ranking officer like him  , a retired major general commits this offense , it has to be considered as very serious.

The Commission informed the retired major general to show cause at the next court date -17 th September  why  legal action should not be taken against him on charges of contempt of court and giving false evidence  before court .
