(Lanka-e-News -11.Aug.2015, 11.30PM) The body of driver who mysteriously disappeared of former minister C.B.Ratnayake has been found at the latter’s official residence at Malalasekera mawatha , Cinnamon gardens according to police. The driver supposedly went missing following the fire that broke out at the Mirihana residence of Ratnayake.
Ratnayake who was given a ministerial portfolio by the 100 days national government, resigned the post , however he did not hand over the official residence back.
The police suspect that the driver S. Premasiri had died following poisoning , and a letter allegedly written by him has also been found.
The police say, his letter states that none should be suspected in connection with his death (which itself arouses suspicion)
It has come to light that when C.B.’s house was gutted by fire and everything in the house was destroyed , the driver was present there. At the time the house was burning, C.B. and his family were on the way to Nuwara Eliya, and when someone had phoned and informed him of the conflagration, C.B. had replied ‘the Fire brigade will look after it” and continued on his journey.
If there is ever an individual who ignores his house and its goods when they are being reduced to ashes owing to fire, and goes on an excursion, it has to be C.B. Ratnayake only.
The native place of driver Premasiri is Walapane. When CB’s son Nuwan Ratnayake was the asist. Secretary in the Sri Lankan (SL) embassy in Russia working along with the SL ambassador Udayanga Weeratunge , it was Premasiri who was sent to Russia to cook meals for them.
The illicit businesses of racketeer Udayanga Weerathunaga were known to Nuwan, as well as to Premasiri. Interestingly, Noel Ranaweera who was jointly carrying out the illicit businesses with Udayanga , and assisting him too suddenly died mysteriously in Russia. When Udayanga went into hiding in an unknown country after fleeing the embassy, Nuwan and Premasiri returned to SL.
CB has three drivers and Premasiri is one of them. After returning form Russia Premasiri resumed work under CB. When the Mirihana house of CB caught fire, driver's wife recently lodged a complaint with the police that Premasiri had gone missing.
Relatives of Premasiri are positive that Preamsiri did not have such gigantic problems to compel him to commit suicide.
