This took place at the Dehiwala mosque Muslim burial grounds.

The Colombo magistrate court three gave permission to exhume the body of Thajudeen , and since the burial place is within the jurisdiction of Mt. Lavinia courts , the exhumation was done before the Mt. Lavinia magistrate , and the Colombo judicial medical officer was entrusted with the subsequent  examinations, the police media spokesman revealed.

Medical specialist , Colombo chief judicial medical officer Ajitha Tennekoon speaking to the media said, following the investigation in respect of the body , answers to questions will be sought. Though a date cannot be given regarding the conclusion of the investigation , it is hoped that it will be soon concluded . However the body had not been still examined , he added.

Thajudeen being a Muslim , according to his religion and its traditions , this exhumation is something out of the ordinary .A large number of relatives and  friends congregated at the venue , and they were heard screaming that justice shall be meted out . It is the general consensus that the murderer is duly punished , uncontrollable  erotic  desire and  inordinate political power of  the culprit nothwithstanding.
