Following this announcement Ranil Wickremesinghe has released the undernoted twitter message to the nation :

“Together president and I pledge to change the course of the country- that was the mandate . I shall not go back on that promise”

Prior to the announcement of the president, there arose discussions within the UNP to form a broad based front along with  ‘Swan’ symbol together with the group that is leaving the SLFP in disillusionment , in case Maithripala takes the disastrous step of turning into an enemy of  the people ,dishonoring the solemn pledges he made to them,by joining with the people rejected corrupt Mahinda and his abominable group of  crooks to build up an alliance .

A group of UNP ers are to meet with the president this evening to discuss further in this regard.
