Maithri orders IGP not to arrest corrupt individuals and murderers: ‘Gota shall not be arrested under any circumstance’

(Lanka-e-News- 17.June.2015, 11.15PM) President Maithripala Sirisena had instructed the IGP Ilangakoon to refrain from arresting the brutal corrupt  ex defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse under whatever circumstances, based on reports reaching Lanka e news inside information division.

Following the notification to attorney general (AG) by the supreme court recently that Gotabaya can be arrested except on four charges filed in the plaint  , the president has phoned the IGP and given the instruction noted in the foregoing paragraph.

In addition ,the  president has given instructions that in the on going police investigations against the corrupt and crooked scoundrels  of the Rajapakse regime lately , nobody should be arrested without consulting the AG’s department or without their instructions.

Moreover , the president has told the IGP not to reveal to the media that he gave  such instructions. ‘Don’t go to tell the journalists that I told like this’ was the warning the president has issued to the IGP.

It is significant to note that the order given by the president

that the crooked  and the corrupt  individuals shall not be arrested without AG’s instructions is absolutely unlawful, because if there is adequate evidence , the police officer is empowered and has the legal  right to arrest that  accused , and law permits that. The police seeks AG’s permission only when they confront any legal knot , in which case the AG’s department resolves it , and also to file a strong case for the prosecution. Otherwise there exists no other base to seek AG’s instruction.

Based on reports reaching Lanka e news inside information division ,there are files in the FCID with cogent and copious evidence against 9 corrupt criminal individuals that  strongly justifiy arrest , yet because of president’s orders to the contrary , none of them can be arrested, and everything is put on hold.

Lanka e news citing  views of political analysts , reported yesterday  that  there is room for Maithripala to come into an understanding with the corrupt Rajapakse brutes. That is, the investigations which  are being conducted into the monumental corruption and frauds of Rajapakses are to be suspended from the president’s side , and from Rajapakse’s side the president is expecting them to keep out of politics.

At yesterday’s SLFP meeting chaired by the president to resolve the conflicts existing between Maithripala and Mahinda Rajapakse , a six member committee was to be appointed. Lanka e news reported that the above  opinion was  expressed by  political analysts  in this connection .

If this report is correct, there is no need for further Ananlysis by experts. It simply is Sri Lankan politicians "back scratching" mode in play. This so-called "gentleman" of a President is mere white-wash. He also kept others at bay by declaring that he will be in place for one term only - looking at how things turn out there is nothing to prevent him contesting the next, by when the Rajapakse will be under "control" with high flung cases put on hold, illeagally. Now only alternative is to have FCID papers be leaked for a public interest Case, where the IGP must be held for not proceeding with charges. Someone in the UNP will do this, if they are to win against the SLFP.
