Urgent reshuffle of Cabinet after Maithri returns: tainted John to be ousted

(Lanka-e-News- 19.Feb.2015, 11.30PM)  Urgent changes are to be effected to the ministerial cabinet after President Maithripalal Sirisena returns to the Island from India after the conclusion of his tour , based on highly placed sources within the government.

It is learnt that the President is forced to take this decision because , the present government which made a solemn pledge during the last Presidential elections that it would take stern action against all those corrupt and fraudulent ministers and MPs irrespective of their status or powers is now confronted by  protests and allegations from within the government and  outside that it has not honored  its pledge .

Already the faith reposed in the government by the people is somewhat eroded on this account . In the circumstances , the President has  taken this decision to effect a cabinet reshuffle.

John Amaratunge ‘s ministerial portfolio , which also concerns   peace and order that  includes the police department is to be given over to another minister . It is strongly believed  this arm  of the ministry is to be brought under the purview of a ministry that is not under a UNP minister.

The Presidential secretariat has decided to probe whether the arrest of Duminda Silva , the UPFA M.P. has hitherto been obstructed  because of the intervention and instructions of John Amaratunge.

Duminda Silva is right now facing charges under the money laundering Act and the dangerous drugs Act following  investigations into the  depositing of foreign monies in many billions collected by Gotabaya on his illicit  arms deals into bank accounts of Duminda, as well as Duminda’s  collection of monies from Wele Sudha the large scale international drug trafficker . The president has received information that Amaratunge has abused his ministerial duties and acted to  obstruct the arrest of Duminda Silva based on the on going investigations .

The officers of the CID had been allegedly halted from taking Duminda into custody because of Amaratunge’s conduct , abuse of ministerial functions and illegal orders given to the police. The presidential secretariat is to conduct a special investigation into the dastardly and disgraceful conduct of minister Amaratunge in the wake of shocking information received by the president .

It is reported that Duminda Silva M.P. had promised many millions of rupees as kickbacks to minister John , as well as to carry out his publicity campaign free at the upcoming elections via  the television channels and broadcasting stations belonging to Duminda’s family members . Minister John had agreed with this proposal . In the complaint made to the President these facts have been exposed.

AAt all events ,already a voluble hue and cry has been made and pressures brought to bear on the President from within the government itself by UNP, as well as from the outside by the JVP ,JHU and several forces  of the general public against the on going investigations which are most reprehensibly inadequate from the standpoint of  efficiency, efficacy  and effectiveness , and it is characterized by lethargy , and providing opportunities to the crooks and culprits who have devastated this country’s economy and the young generation to buy time for their manipulations to escape from the arms of the law or to subvert sacrosanct justice itself.

I love lankaenews, but sorry I think you got it wrong this time. I know for a fact that John is trying his best to produce a clear cut concrete case against Duminda SL. Money laundering charges of a big fish like him has a myriad of trails and networks that requires complex financial forensics. This is going to the most high profile arrest ever. I understand how people can be frustrated with the delays, but to think John is delaying Duminda in exchange of money is just silly. Duminda was the fall of MR and no one understands the importance of this arrest more the Minister himself. Duminda was involved in money laundering, but he wouldn't have made it easy for anyone to prove it. Everyone is now shouting "where are the lambo cars, because the Rajapakses were able to ship it to Dubai with the help of McLarens". We don't want the same happening to Duminda (whose carrier is already over anyway)

John needs to be sent home. He was ONLY hell bent on getting his son in law the post of Governor of The CB. He has always had 1 1/2 feet with MR and 1/2 or 1/4 with RW. RW is such a vacillating idiot, he has no idea of whom to trust. What is he backing that thug from Wattala for. He should be stoned to death, together with Dinish & Dinesha. imagine the PM having an advisor who is/was on the board of Access? Ranil, get your act together. Next time you won't even be leader of the opposition, you ll have to sit at 5th Lane, making those funny noises from yr throat & shaking your legs. Bloody fool. spent more time in the opposition than in Government. Time to go BABY.
