(Lanka-e-News- 19.Feb.2015, 11.30PM) While all the fraudsters , heroin peddlers , swindlers and rogues of the former government (which was thrown out lock, stock and barrel by the people ) who indulged in large scale illicit businesses including drugs and ethanol are free , enjoying all the fun and frolic , it is most reprehensible that the police are chasing behind the UNP representatives who did not commit such egregious wrongs or heinous crimes.
It is reported that a team of officers led by IP Neville Silva of the Colombo crime investigation department(CCD) has last day 17th visited the home of UNP provincial councilor Niroshan Padukka , surrounded it and done a search of the premises
The police had also told wife of Padukka (who was not at home ) that they will take Padukka too into custody in the same way as Palitha Thevaraperuma.
The background to the boorish police behavior is as follows :
It is the objection raised by Padukka against the monk (who is a henchman of Gotabaya) who is constructing a commercial building belonging to the Vihara and Devale under the temple ordinance , near the Boralesgamuwa police that has triggered this police investigation.
As this monk has deployed soldiers of the army and civil security forces to erect this building outrageously violating all the laws, Padukka as a people’s representative has threatened to go to the police along with soldiers of the civil security force. The monk on the other hand , who is himself trespassing not only on temple land but even Buddhist tenets had complained to the police that Padukka with a crowd had committed criminal trespass by coming to his temple premises.
It is based on this complaint the CD officers have arrived today searching for Padukka.
In this situation , the following crimes committed by high profile politicos merit exposure :
Wife of Wimal Weerawansa who had in her possession two forged passports.
The notorious ‘kudu ‘ Duminda who brought in container loads of heroin .
Gotabaya who gave orders to kill unarmed citizens at Rathupaswala , and supplied arms to terrorists . In this instance the police had been unable to even record a statement of his despite the gravity of the offence.
The ex Prime minister and his secretary who requested to release a container load of heroin.
Shiranthee Rajapakse, wife of ex president against whom there are charges of selling gold illicitly , and had accounts on the sly.
The politician who openly said , the legs of journalist Poddala Jayantha were broken by him /his group .
It is very unfortunate politicos like Padukka who acted in the best interests of the people are being harassed and embarrassed while all these crooked politicians , and their cronies who had outrageously and openly committed the worst crimes are still free , and worse still continuing to indulge in rackets , forgeries , heroin peddling , illicit gold sales and violence since they are as free as a bird , and are encouraged by the climate of impunity they enjoy .
