World famous Padmasiri award winning sand sculptor Sudarshan Pattanaik to create the longest sand Buddha statue at Diyawanna!

(Lanka-e-News - 10.May.2017, 7.10PM)  With a view to celebrate the Wesak in conjunction with the 14 th annual Wesak commemoration by the UN in Sri Lanka (SL)   ,the world’s longest sand  statue of Buddha is to be created in SL  . This will be inaugurated   on the 10 th in the vicinity of Diyawanna Oya.  

This exquisite production is being made by the world famous sand sculptor Sudharshan Pattanaik of India who won India’s most prestigious national Padmasiri ward .

The Indian High Commission in Colombo ,  Sri Lanka has invited this famous sculptor to SL.

The world famous Indian sculptor has invited the Sri Lankans to visit the site and feast their eyes on the most exquisite sand statue exhibit which will be on display near the Parliament at Battaramulla from 10 th until the 14 th between 10.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. each day. 

The sculptor has planned  to create a 50 feet long (approximately)  Buddha statue .
 
Sudharshan Pattanaik is a most talented  sculptor who  won the gold medal at the 10 th Moscow sand craft competition in 2017 . The sand statue of Buddha in this photograph was  created by him at  an exhibition in Berlin .
