Maithri addresses rally on same stage despite attack and arson committed by ‘Pissa Muthuhettigama’ causing 4 million damage

(Lanka-e-News- 19.Dec.2014, 11.00PM) Common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena held his election rally 17th evening at Waduramba , Galle attended by a record crowd exceeding 8000 in number ,on the same platform which was burnt down by his opponents . The lorry that transported the loud speaker to the venue was also destroyed by this wanton violence .

This devastation was caused on the 17th early morning at about 5.45 by the notorious mentally unhinged Muthuhetigama M.P. who is taking treatment daily for his mental condition .This M.P. who is noted for his insanity fits had arrived with a gang of goons and set fire to the stage, and the lorry that transported the loudspeakers and sound equipments for the meeting ,inflicting heavy losses and damage .

According to the owners of the audio supply equipment Co., the damage caused to the sound equipments and the speakers is over Rs. 4 million. The three individuals who arrived to supply the sound equipments had also been assaulted , resulting in the victims fleeing the scene in fear.

One of the two vehicles that was used for the attack belongs to the local body . Its number is PS 7408 and is utilized for the election activities . This was supplied to the local body lately. It has come along Pilagoda road , while the other vehicle No. WP KJ 3863 is a jeep that transported Muthuhettigama and his goons. These goons were armed with two pistols.

Two eye witnesses have made two complaints with the Waduramba police . Nevertheless , the DIG of the division had instructed the police not to arrest ‘Muthuhettigama pissa.’ Moreover , investigations are being conducted ignoring the eye witnesses. Though 6 CCTV cameras are installed in and around the town , the police have not enlisted these camera recordings for their investigations.

The violence and mayhem however had not deterred or daunted the crowds attending the rally. More than 8000 were present at the rally which was addressed by Maithripala Sirisena , Rajitha Senarathne , Ravi Karunanayake , Sarath Fonseka , Arjuna Ranatunge and Hemakumara Nanayakkara .

The most striking part of this rally was , despite all these obstructions caused , and violence sparked by the government , a group of about 500 SLFP seniors wearing blue caps joined the opposition in support of Maithri at the meeting .
