Suspect who hacked president’s website is 17 years old prodigy who secured 9 As in GCE O/L !

(Lanka-e-News -30.Aug.2016, 7.30AM)  The mastermind who hacked Sri Lankan President’s official website  twice is a teeny weeny student who has begun  following the GCE advanced level after successfully completing the GCE Ord. level  exam with 9 ‘A’s based on reports reaching Lanka e news.

The 17 years old prodigy  is a resident of Kadugannawa, who was arrested and fetched to Colombo .

This teenaged hacker had accessed the official website  of the president twice on the sly on Thursday (25 th) and Friday (26 th) . On the first occasion , he had deleted the existing data , and introduced the message ‘ because of the new year , not to conduct the  the GCE advanced level  exam in April. Take precautions to secure the Sri Lankan websites .’ He had also in the message  mentioned , if the president is unable to administer the country , to hold a presidential election , and to focus more on the issues of the University students with a view to resolving  them, while pointing out that the untoward activities  of the Prime Minister  shall be halted. He had concluded with ‘Yours  ,  Sri Lankan youth’

After the president’s website was restored following the first hacking , it became  clearly evident  what great ‘computer wizards ‘ are with the president who could not  even track down the vulnerable  points of the website which even a child who is a TinTin  cartoon fan  could have trapped ,until the ‘second hacking attack’  was made. The ‘wizards’  therefore truly deserve a loud hoot and not an applause.

When the website was hacked the second time, in order to mislead,  it was stated  the hacker is a Pakistani.

The Sri Lanka computer emergency response team and the police IT division had conducted an investigation, and through the IP number used by the hacker , the student was arrested.

This teenager has shown signs of uncanny intelligence despite his young age . Apparently  , immature as he is it  seems he does not know the seriousness of his action. It is therefore the responsibility of the authorities to give due consideration to those aspects   before  punishment is decided. It will be best if he is  given counseling rather than meting out punishment.

There is a group of ‘friendly hackers’ in the world.  The website developers  after developing websites enlist  the friendly hackers  to secure a confirmation whether or no those can be hacked.  This is a  social and  friendly group .This teenage student should be shown the right way along those lines, and it is the responsibility of the media to conceal the identity of the student  .

If the youngster is not rehabilitated or pardoned, there is one sure way he can prevent getting into scalding hot water - after summoning an ambulans, enter hospital at once.

If the webmaster used Admin as user name and password as password anyone with a little knowledge of web designing can enter in a web hosting account. If the webmaster had read a file that contains "iframe" script, then the sender can enter in to his account easily. If you are a computer user never open emails with attachments from unknown people. Your passwords must contain Capital letter, numbers, characters and it must be longer than 8 texts.
