(Lanka-e-News -17.Aug.2016, 11.45PM) A member of the Director board of Namal’s Co. ,Nithya Senani Samaranayake who was involved in the money laundering activities (over which charges Namal was also remanded ) and on whom a warrant was issued was arrested yesterday . After being produced in court she was remanded until the 22nd. This order was issued by the Fort acting magistrate Ms. Lanka Jayaratne.
Namal Rajapakse to whom Rs. 15 million and Rs. 30 million were released by his own companies , N.R. consultancy and Gowers Corporate Co. respectively to purchase Hello Corp Co. could not explain how he collected or earned those monies originally . His board of Directors too could not offer an explanation. Consequently warrants of arrest were issued on all the members of the Board too .
It is worthy of note Nithya Senani Samaranayke was a member of the board of Directors of both companies. Another notorious Director Sujani Bogalagama on whom a warrant was issued had got herself admitted to hospital citing the ground she is sick.
Others along with Namal on whom arrest warrants were issued were : Indika Prabath Karunajeewa who is absconding court and has fled to England, Pavithra Sujani Bogalagama, Sudarshan Bandara Ganegoda, Nithya Senani Samaranayake and Batapola Arachilage Oranella Iresha Silva .
Sudarshana Bandara Ganegoda was arrested on the 15 th and after being produced in court was remanded until the 22 nd.
