Right to information bill to come into effect from today- Information Director’s idiocy and imbecility again on display !

(Lanka-e-News -06.Aug.2016, 3.30PM)   The right to information bill which was most earnestly anticipated by the pro good governance masses  will come into effect from today. The signature of the speaker Deshamanya Karu Jayasuriya which is necessary to give it the legal clout will be placed by him this morning.

According to the enactment, requests for information can be made by the public from today , though providing  information will begin six months from today. This is because the mass media ministry needs six months time to appoint the commission in that regard, and its information officers .

Based on the enactment the public can secure information pertaining to State ministries, State Corporations , State departments , provincial council Institutions, NGOs, private Universities, Higher education Institutions and courts ( subject to limits) .These information have to  be made available to the public. Information relating to national security , international trade agreements, banks including  financial operations  are of course subject to limits.

Turncoat turned Information Director Dr. Ranga Kalansuriya at a media briefing today had this story.

It is only in India the people took to the streets to win the right  to  information, whereas in our country that was not the people’s demand  . In our country there are so many things the public secured without requesting , and this right is one among them , Kalansuriya pointed out.

It is well to recall ,Kalansuriya who obtained a Ph. D. from Kanyaratne of the Jayawardenapura University never was  with the Rainbow revolution , and not even in its vicinity during the struggles . Turncoat Kalansuriya who was always a hanger-on of the Rajapakses lying in wait with open salivating mouth to grab the crumbs falling from their sumptuous meals tables  , at the final stages fled the country and spent his time in hiding like a guilty culprit . He was one who never spat even once against the corrupt and criminal Rajapakses. Even when he had the ability to help those engaged in the Rainbow revolution and its activists he never lifted as much as a finger to support  them.

Karu Jayasuriya tabled a private  motion bill regarding right to information when UNP was in the opposition solely because of the requests made by the pro good governance masses.

At that time the Rajapakse regime threw away  that draft bill  most disdainfully . The alternative media including Lanka e News opposing this  gave publicity in this regard and built the public opinion in favor of the bill. Thereafter  , this struggle was in  the main among the campaigns aimed at   chasing  out of the corrupt , lawless and brutal Rajapakse regime. Indeed, countless editorials were written on the right to information bill.

This Dr.Ranga alias  ‘Renegade’ said , requests were made by the  civil organizations and the political parties , and this was  not a request of the public. It is  a pity this Dr. DE Boor  thinks ,civil organizations and political parties are not representing the people but aliens from another planet. By his stupid utterance he has only betrayed his gross and abysmal ignorance. He is assuming only people campaigning on the streets before TV cameras  are engaged in  struggles .

Since the day Ranga the renegade stooped to political manipulations and machinations to become information Director he had been displaying his imbecility and idiocy by trying to make stupid comments on what he does not know. It is an old adage , ‘any fool is thought wise until he/she  opens his/her  mouth.’ It is unfortunate poor Ranga is seemingly  ignorant of that simple old saying too – that is why he is unable to keep his mouth shut to  hide its stench and his  foolhardiness .
