(Lanka-e-News -23.July.2016, 11.30PM) The High court of Colombo today imposed a fine plus jail sentence on former Controller of Immigration and Emigration Jayasinghe Arachige Ariyasena for failing to explain how he could buy a house and property worth Rs. 2 million , and open a fixed deposit account for Rs. 200,000,00
The fine imposed was Rs. 6.6 million which is three times the value of the illicit wealth he possessed. The two years imprisonment was commuted to ten years suspended sentence. The case was filed by the Commission inquiring into bribery and corruption , and the verdict was delivered by Colombo High court judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena.
The illicit wealth was allegedly acquired by the ex Controller of Immigration and Emigration during the period between 31 st March 1994 and 31 st March 1995.

A house worth 2 million and a deposit of 200,000 is pea nuts compared to the wealth acquired by many public servants including those in the police and armed services. If corruption is to be eliminated or curtailed, go after the wealth of these people.

It is only Rs 2mn+ Fixed deposit 0.2mn. What about the present president's Secretary Abekoon? He has risen to that position from the level of a minor employee of the RVDB and earning a Diploma in Agriculture from the school of Agriculture through the school of Agriculture through an errand way and later on earned a n external degree in labour education meant for only 8th standard passed labourers and by and by rose to the level of "the Controller of Immigration and Emigration" and became a Billioneer through the black money he earned there and became a favourite of the Infamous Rajapaksha Regime and Summersaulted to the Hon Maithreepala Sirisena in cheating him as one of his closee allies. Thus he got all his dirty black blood moneies white washed. Gentlemen, please go behind this Mamoth Rougue and bring him to the book in safeguarding the president PLEASE!.
