(Lanka-e-news- 20.Nov.2014, 11.55PM) The proclamation that was expected by many to be made by Medamulana MaRa about the Presidential elections following the Cabinet meeting (perhaps the last cabinet meeting of the government ) which commenced at 7.00 p.m. at the Temple trees did not materialize . Although Minister Maitripala Sirisena participated in this cabinet meeting , Minister Janaka Bandara Tennekoon did not. Minister Mervyn Silva too kept away.
The SLFP central working committee of the SLFP met at 8.30 p.m. after the conclusion of the cabinet meeting at Temple trees. There , Medamulana MaRa’s name was mentioned as the Presidential candidate at the upcoming elections which is being held two years ahead of the scheduled date of Presidential elections.
Maithripala Sirisena proposed the name of MaRa as the Presidential candidate and senior Minister A.H. M. Fowzie seconded it. Although all the officials were anticipating the gazette notification with President’s ratification signature for printing at the State printing department , this did not take place.
MaRa’s confused state was compounded , when the poster pasting campaign Island wide that was kept ready by MaRa to paste MaRa’s posters after the proclamation , began pasting them at most places across the country, as MaRa’s muddling up of the program was not duly conveyed to the poster pasting morons and minions.
Meanwhile , according to informed sources within the SLFP, following the scheduled discussions with the other UPFA leaders tomorrow , the proclamation will be made after nominating Medamulana MaRa as the Presidential candidate .
The same sources say , when the astrological auspicious time for announcing the Presidential elections was sought , it was discovered at the last minute that it should be changed , and that the proclamation shall be made tomorrow (20).Apparently everything is befuddling beleaguered MaRa who is right now in the middle of a muddle , not knowing whom to trust . Even astrological calculations the only thing he could trust are seemingly betraying him by turning into miscalculations .
MaRa following the maxim ‘ desperate problems need desperate remedies’ not only distributed motor cycles as election bribes but also distributed cash gifts of Rs. 2500/- each to low income earners in view of the elections . Of course , parasitic MaRa’s magnanimity is again based on his favorite policy of robbing Peter to pay Paul. It is the public funds that have been robbed for these generous illegal disbursements.
Believe it or not , MaRa’s generosity , illegal though is so monumental 200,000 bicycles are also to be distributed .The scholarship exam marks of students necessary for a pass at the exam had also been reduced by him by 5 marks, and the student scholarship disbursement has been raised. These moves at this juncture which are to all intents and purposes spurious are however aimed at winning over the hearts of the parents of many thousands of students who are deluded into thinking that it is ‘MaRa the great’ who was their object of hate just a while ago had made their children to succeed in the scholarship exam, which is a dream of every parent .
Be wary , more election bribes are also in the pipeline , but the bottom line is , it is the people’s funds that are being robbed by MaRa to please all, which is worse than robbing Peter to pay Paul.
