MaRa signs proclamation gazette notification on Presidential elections- a government M.P crosses over to opposition immediately thereafter

(Lanka-e-news- 20.Nov.2014, 11.55PM) MaRa placed his signature for the gazette notification regarding the Presidential election at the auspicious time , at 1.28 p.m. His supporters then started lighting crackers across the country following this proclamation , the elections commissioner has to announce the date of nominations , and he must thereafter declare the date of elections. Based on unofficial sources , the probable date of elections will be January 7th.

The elections proclamation that was to be made on the 20 th had to be postponed at the last minute , because the auspicious time was changed, according to informed sources from within the SLFP. Lanka e news revealed these changes yesterday midnight .

It is sad to note , as though as if it is a bad omen even as Medamulana MaRa announced the Presidential elections, at the voting on the budget of the Rajapakse regime local body , Palindanuwara , the government party was defeated by 5 votes. Five of the Rajapakse regime local body members voted against and two others abstained from voting .

As all five members of the opposition voted against the budget, the ‘mini government’ of the Rajapakse regime was defeated . In addition not even before three hours have elapsed after the Presidential proclamation on elections , Gampaha district M.P. Vasantha Senanayake of the government crossed over to opposition deserting the government.

Vasantha Senanayake is of the D.S. Senanayake lineage , and is a Parliamentary representative of the third generation Senanayake. At the moment he is at the UNP headquarters Sri Kotha .
