(Lanka-e-News -02.April.2016, 11.45PM) Kumar Gunaratnam with Australian citizenship who identified himself under various aliases such as R.M.Dayal,Noel Mudalige, Kumar Mahathaya, who is staying illegally in Sri Lanka sans visa and a Rajapakse spy was sentenced to one year (non –rigorous) imprisonment plus Rs. 50,000.00 fine by Kegalle Magistrate Prasanna Alwis on the 31 st of March.
Gunaratnam revealed in court that owing to death threats he faced politically in Sri Lanka(SL) in 2006 he left the country under the name R.M. Dayal to Australia ,secured citizenship there under the name of Noel Mudalige, and he returned in 2011 regardless of the death threats.
This revelation is an absolute lie vis a vis the actual facts . It was Gunaratnam who as the inside leader of the JVP, extended fullest support to steer Mahinda Rajapakse to power in 2005. Hence there was no possibility for him to face death threats in 2006 from the government of Rajapakse.
He also said during that period owing to the internal conflicts he was embroiled in within the JVP he faced death threats. If that was so ,when considering the raging conflicts within the left parties in SL , half of the people in Sri Lanka must be abroad seeking political asylum .Hence , this is an absolute lie.
The actual position was , his wife who is a Doctor obtained Australian citizenship. Automatically the whole family obtained Australian citizenship thereby , and Gunaratnam being her husband he too received citizenship. Gunaratnam went to Australia with the sole and whole objective of making money, and not because of threats to his life. There is copious evidence and documents to substantiate this.
His statement that he returned to SL despite the death threats is a blatant lie. If he truly had death threats in 2006 that should have multiplied two fold by 2011 , because by that time the JVP had turned into be the deadliest enemy of Rajapakse government .
In fact Gunaratnam arrived in SL to carry out the contract of the Rajapkses to split the JVP. After his arrival , Hendavitharne the security advisor to Gotabaya bragged ‘ we shall once again break up the JVP’ That was about three months prior to Kumar Gunaratnam and his group dissociating from the JVP. The writer of this article in fact informed this then to present JVP leader Anura Dissanayake and warned him.
After three months the Kumar Gunaratnam group separated from the JVP. This split was not a result of political bickerings but a consequence of the Rajapakse contract undoubtedly. There was another reason for this. From time to time though there had been break away groups leaving the JVP , but none of them had left after robbing the assets of the JVP .
Even Weerawansa left weeping. That was because of his respect for the place where he engaged in politics , whereas Kumar Gunaratnam was different. He robbed whatever he could from the JVP. That is because he was acting only to serve the contractual obligations of interested parties which compelled him to leave the JVP and not because of any political mishap.
Court was informed that he was abducted by the Rajapakses but that was an absolute lie. We exposed the false drama at that time. We proved with evidence it was a drama enacted in collusion with Gotabaya .
They even went to the extent of saying Dimuthu Attygalle a party activist , the mistress of Gunaratnam was abducted along with him. The abductors who released Kumar Gunaratnam near the Dematagoda police freed Dimuthu Attygalle near their party office. Isn’t releasing the abductee near the party office another false drama ?
Kumar Gunaratnam who was released in the vicinity of Dematagoda police was taken into custody by the Australian High Commission officials that arrived at the venue , and was deported to Australia.
Thereafter he was collecting funds roaming the streets of Europe. On one such occasion when he was ‘begging’ , a disabled brother met and questioned him. Gunaratnam who was enraged dragged him out of the hall pushed him out and denied access into the hall . This is how Gunaratnam practised his so called socialism.
During the run up to the presidential elections 2015, when all the parties were gearing to unite and defeat the Rajapakse regime , Gunaratnam with a view to sabotage those afforts and to secure political advantages in favor of Mahinda Rajapakse, despite the knowledge that the latter cannot win under any circumstance , another candidate was fielded by him . Mounting the election platforms they furiously and fiercely attacked not Rajapakse but the opposition common candidate.
A few days before the elections , Kumar arrived in SL as an Australian citizen on a tourist visa nursing the optimism that Mahinda will win. That was based on a deal. By that time , even if a solitary vote of the common candidate can be diverted to Mahinda Rajapakse was most valuable , Kumar Gunaratnam too therefore raised his price. He too demanded Australian dollars 500,000.00. This deal was fixed in Singapore and the ‘ broker’ was Sajin Vaas Gunawardena. After the latter was taken into custody in his statements made this is mentioned.
Gunaratnam who arrived on a tourist visa in SL at that time violated the Inmmigration and Emigration rules by holding a political media conference .An individual who has arrived in the country on a tourist visa cannot hold political meetings or media briefings . Yet the Rajapakses permitted this in order to use him to ‘brake and break’ the votes of the common candidate.
The Kumar Gunaratnam group however polled less than 10,000 votes at the elections . Actually , a political party that has not even a vote base of 10,000 votes is incapable of doing anything .There are countless loan granting, trade union societies comprising people which are much more than that number of voters in the country. If he is a true politician with sincere objectives to serve the nation what Gunaratnam should have done is dismantled such a bankrupt party , and converted it into a charity service.
When the opposition common candidate won in a manner Gunaratnam did not anticipate , and the government of good governance came into being , since that point of time Gunaratnam undertook to fulfil the obligations of the sordid contracts of the Rajapakses who was discarded by the people , in order to sabotage the progress of the new government of good governance.
Believe it or not , the contract was so villainous, venomous and traitorous , it was only Gunaratnam’s party that is ever ready to stoop to any lowliest level which opposed the salutary 19 th amendment tabled in parliament to transfer some of the presidential executive powers to parliament.
Their only Member in parliament at that time was the solitary M.P. who cast the vote against it , even when he could have abstained from voting. Moreover , it was only Kumar Gunaratnam’s regressive party that went in procession to oppose the passage of the drugs bill in parliament which won the approval of true pure leftists and was the cherished hope of the patriotic people of the entire country for decades.
It is best if the nitwits and nincompoops who are perhaps getting ready to express their sympathy on behalf of Gunaratnam take careful note of the facts aforementioned. Otherwise they would incur the wrath not only of the people but even of the gods . May be lightning will decapitate them for the sins they are committing on the nation.
The favorite occupation and the only source of income of Gunaratnam was receiving payments from Rajapakse and other organizations who hire him to carry out such manipulations taking advantage of youth innocence and exuberance.
By misleading the University students and exploiting their innocent minds he makes them take to the streets in protests at least once a week . Thereafter when these children break police barriers in an attempt to reach the Temple trees or presidential secretariat , subject these students to water hose or tear gas attacks thereby mentally warp them to develop hate , vengeance and violence against laws and lawful authorities.
Let us recall a case in point : Some time ago , Guanratnam group went in procession in SL against the Indian nuclear power plant. There is no one to ask from them now what happened to their protests . Their protests died and went underground but the nuclear power plant is still standing firmly on ground , and active . Obviously those were protests staged by them after receiving kickbacks from the Rajapakses .Being well accomplished in the occupation of making monkeys dance on streets , he is always looking for opportunities to demonstrate that occupational skill to make a fast buck at the expense of innocent young minds.
Throughout the past , the University student leaders were the ‘red’ leftists . If these leaders have seen to it they turn out youths who are progressive , patriotic and iintelligent , by now the government service will not be abounding with such corrupt and incompetent individuals serving the public, because a majority of these despicable youths later joined the government service.
At least from within the government service there should have arisen among them a resentment against corruption and ruthlessness . But nothing of that sort had ever occurred. From this isn’t it deducible , the pseudo revolutionaries that are generated through the Universities have got mingled with Lankan society as useless worthless scoundrels ?
Truly , if cases are to be heard in regard to the murders committed and damage to state property etc. that were inflicted by Kumar Gunaratnam during the 1988-89 period , he should be behind bars even in his next life. He was punished only in respect of his visa crime. He is fortunate two fold because , though he is sentenced to one year in jail , he can get released in about 9 months. Besides , his opportunities as an opportunist have increased both ways : he can multiply his ‘protest contracts’ and also raise his charges in that respect.
