(Lanka-e-News- 16.March.2016, 10.45PM) Unprecedented crowds attended the rally ‘Let us make room for New Lanka’ yesterday organized by the UNP youth organizations at Hyde park .The crowd was so large that the whole area from Hyde park to Town Hall was a sea of heads based on reports reaching Lanka e news. This rally was held to give answers through the people’s forces to the pro MaRa brutes, stupid politicos, slavish stooges and blind supporters who are engaged in malicious campaigns spreading false propaganda , and sabotage activities aimed at obstructing the progress in the fulfilment of the wishes and hopes of the people ,and undermining the government that won twice on the votes of the people whose earnest wishes and aspirations are to create a ‘world’ that is freed from frauds , corruption , criminals and crooked activities which raged and were the order of the day under the last regime.
This record crowd was an eye opener to all vis a vis the paucity of crowds that were witnessed at the protest rallies held by various other parties in Colombo against the government in the recent past .
Our cameras captured the prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe taking part in the rally with calm and composure , while a number of UNP leaders including Malik Samaraweera , Ruwan Wijewardena , Sajith Premadasa , Rosie Senanayake , Gayantha Karunatileke , Sujeewa Senasinghe were seen mingled with the people along with UNP provincial council ministers ,members ,Municipal council members and electoral organizers.
