The Commission has called for an explanation in regard to his visit based on a court order to the elephant orphanage at Pinnawala armed with a weapon to see by force the elephant calf he reared unlawfully .

Meanwhile the Fundamental rights  petition filed by Gamage in the Supreme court (SC) to avert his being  arrested  following investigation into his  unlawful detention of the elephant calf was dismissed by the SC yesterday .

The three judges bench including Eva Wanasundara who heard the petition dismissed it . In the petition , the CID,  IGP and Attorney General were cited as respondents.
