(Lanka-e-News- 23.Feb.2016, 8.00PM -2nd edtion 24.Feb, 6.00AM) Galagodaathe Gnanassara who was in remand custody on charges of threatening Sandya Ekneliyagoda in court was enlarged on bail by Homagama magistrate Ranga Dissanayake today (23) on a personal bail in a sum of Rs. 200,000.00
In connection with the charges against Gnanassara of threatening Sandya Ekneliyagoda , it was argued by the prosecution that under the threatening of victims Act ,bail cannot be granted by the magistrate court . Consequently the court had to postpone its decision . The State counsel appearing on behalf of the Attorney General also made his submissions in that regard today. Tirantha Wallaliyadha the counsel for Gnanassara was absent in court , and a junior lawyer appeared in his place. He told court that the Ekneliyagoda disappearance case has also now got stuck on to Gnanassara , and is part of the heap below and above of the cases involving Gnanassara .Unfortunately that statement went more in favor of Ekneliyagoda than Gnanassara.
Meanwhile , Gnanassara addressing the magistrate begged the latter most abjectly to release him.
‘ Aney your honor , please release me . On that day I spoke that way to Ekneliyagoda unintentionally and without thinking far . I am sorry about it . I am prepared to ask pardon from that lady .’ Gnanassara was almost in tears when he was making the plea most humbly and abjectly .
Upul Kumaraperuma , the lawyer who appeared on behalf of the victim warned , ‘if you are thinking of changing the country’s laws , it is better without shouting hoarse through the cavernous mouth , go to parliament for that.’
The magistrate after considering the pros and cons of the submissions made by both parties , and Gnanassara’s pitiful pleas , granted personal bail in a sum of Rs. 200,000.00 subject to stringent conditions .
Gnanassara was earlier released on bail in another case based on charges of committing contempt of court. The bail condition in that case was : Gnanassara should report to Homagama police every Sunday and sign the register.
In Sandya’s case , Gnanassara was charged with threatening Sandya under the protection of victims Act . Bail was delayed in this case because the lawyers for Sandya argued that the magistrate court is not empowered to grant bail to the accused under this Act .
Gnanassara who rode the high horse that day saying he will not accept the laws of the ‘Whites,’ after being released on bail today ,said, the sangha must have an idea about laws, and that must be imparted to them . It is very unfortunate Gnanassara despite his maturity ,and the saffron robe he wore realized this a trifle too late.
The laity and the clergy must learn to understand they are governed by a universal truth , that is , you are allowed to go that high because your fall is going to be that hard – that is the irrevocable law of nature .

Now that Gannasara is out, it won't be long before all his piled up dirty laundry will be washed in public. We, the public, await the "aiyo sir*s" stench.
