Koslanda landslide disaster :Government concocts a comedy fairy tale for its enjoyment out of a monumental tragedy

(Lanka-e-News- 04.Nov.2014, 9.00PM) The Rajapakse regime has made a comedy fairy tale for its enjoyment out of the recent monumental landslide tragedy at Meeriyabedde ,Koslanda which allegedly claimed hundreds of lives. It is no less a person than the Minister of disaster management (mismanagement) Mahinda ‘Amaraweera’ (deathless) who related this fairy tale at a media briefing held yesterday . He is now revealing that it is their belief that only 37 persons have gone missing, however , the missing can be a maximum of 45 in the event the number of those who have gone to outside places do not return. Only three children have lost their both parents , and 4 children have lost their mothers, he noted.

Meanwhile , yesterday two more bodies of women and a baby were found increasing the number of dead bodies to 8. Interestingly , this same Minister Amaraweera in the morning (29 th October) of the day of the catastrophe said , 300 were buried alive and 8 bodies have been found, while the forces said , about 150 houses were trapped in the landslide.

A day later on the 30 th , the Minister referring to a list said, the number missing and dead is 192, and there were 330 residents. In addition he stated , there were 57 families living in 63 houses, and though the children who went to schools escaped , they had lost their parents .

The same Minister now had transformed the figure to just 37. These statistics revealed most irresponsibly by a responsible Minister has no answers to the following questions :

According to what he said last, if there were 63 houses destroyed , and only 37 died , then if we assume each house had only one inhabitant , then , were the other 26 houses without even a single inhabitant ? Is this what this stupid Minister of (mis)management trying to convey ? If now according to this mendacious minister , of the 75 students who escaped death only 7 have lost both their parents , did the parents of 68 others come back from the dead? Did these 136 parents roam about and wait until a day passed after the disaster without searching for their beloved children?

The Minister said , the number missing is 37 but can be a maximum of 45 if those who presumably went out from the devastated area do not return . It is now five days since the disaster struck , yet the Minister is so stupid to assume these 8 missing persons would return ? Perhaps like himself and his government which are enjoying telling fairytales after transforming people ‘s abject sufferings and tragedies into comedies , is the Minister thinking those who went out from the devastated area are also enjoying like himself on hearing the tragedy from out without rushing back to see their devastated families ?

The army at the outset stated in writing that they extricated 9 bodies , but later the number strangely reduced to four. What happened to the remaining five bodies that were extricated ? Nobody knows what happened to them so far . Surely , mistakes cannot be made regarding the number dead , and those bodies extricated- certainly not by a responsible government that is also responsible for the tragedy directly or indirectly.
