(Lanka-e-News 24.Jan.2016, 11.45PM) While plans are already there to sign an agreement with the latest express internet service -Google loon service that can cover every inch of the land of the country , and permits easy access to the internet , based on reports reaching Lanka e news inside news information division, the chairman of the SLT , Kumarasinghe Sirisena , the brother of the president is conspiring to thwart and foil this great boon designed for the country.
It is also learnt that the president’s brother has engaged in this conspiracy even bypassing the minister Harin Fernando and most surreptitiously while basking in the power and influence of his president brother.
It was on 28 th July 2015 , the agreement was signed by Mangala Samaraweera the minister of Telecom regulatory Commission at that time with the Google Loon service . After the elections this ministry was entrusted to Harin Fernando. While the latter went to America recently to follow up and secure the Google loon service for SL, the president’s notorious corrupt brother Kumarasinghe Sirisena has along with chiefs of other providers of internet services met with the president. The latter had said , the Google Loon service shall be stopped forthwith because if the Google Loon service is introduced , the Institutions which are currently providing weak internet services by erecting towers across the country will collapse.
It is to be noted ,Kumarasinghe Sirisena is only the chairman of the SLT and Mobitel . He is not the minister in charge of telecom regulatory affairs . Therefore by getting the chiefs of the other Institutions to join him , and on the sly without the knowledge of the minister in charge , holding discussions with the president , Kumarasinghe has usurped his authority , and arrogated to himself the powers of the minister . Never mind if he is even seeking all the illicit channels provided he is acting in good faith and for the benefit of the country, whereas on this issue , Kumarasinghe is conspiring to sabotage a project that is going to confer immense benefits on the people and the country.
Obviously what is being plotted is to thwart this great boon in store for the country ,and to continue with the internet service supply via the towers , for if this supply is halted , the clandestine gobbling up of fundson the sly by Kumarasinghe for which he is well noted ,and his clan too will grind to a halt.
It is a well and widely known fact that the president’s younger brother by appointing the corrupt and the crooked as Directors has put the SLT and Mobitel on the sure road to ruination . Yet when the BBC questioned the president , he said , his brother is only the SLT chairman and not the minister in charge , and he is working under the minister . Though the president made these utterances as though he was a one month old infant who knows about the soother in his mouth only , and nothing beyond that , the conduct of his younger brother in this instance is most clearly a high handed action for he has arrogated to himself powers of a minister , while also by passing him most arrogantly.
The bottm line is , it is most unfortunate , when the Google Loon express internet service is to be introduced for the enormous benefit of the entire nation which will enable accessing the internet from any part or point of the country , these Polonnaruwa frogs on the contrary who still prefer the lives deep within the well seem to enjoy only if the people too like them croak from within wells , insulated from the civilized world and modernisation .
