(Lanka-e-News- 15.Jan.2016, 11.50PM) Maithripala Sirisena who came forward making solemn, proud and loud promises to abolish the executive presidency a year ago , celebrating the first anniversary of the successful rainbow revolution of 8 th January 2015 dubbing it ‘president’s investiture,’ has unfortunately been most frowned upon by the very people for good governance who were responsible for his success via the rainbow revolution.
It was Maithripala Sirisena and none else who said at Cabinet meetings , even the use of the words ‘presidential investiture’ is anathema to him. Yet on 8 th January when his secretarial lackeys , and stooges held celebrations to mark his completion of one year as president , it was president himself who carried this Tamasha proudly aloft , having conveniently forgotten his ‘bitter anathema.’ From this the only inference that can be drawn is , either Maithripala told the cabinet a blatant and brazen lie, or his secretaries , lackeys and stooges are disobedient to or disdaining him.
It is an incontrovertible and glaring truth that the masses who took part in the rainbow revolution of 8 th January 2015 were absolutely opposed to the ridiculous , puerile and wasteful expenditure of ex president Mahinda Rajapakse towards his self centered ego boosting Tamashas including his pompous grandiose presidential investiture ceremony at public expense .Hence , when the very individual who was chosen by the masses to replace him for a better deal is himself indulging in such profligate spending and extravagance , nothing can be more reprehensible and abominable from the standpoint of the people. Borrowing Maithripala ‘s own words , ‘he must be lashed with Madu walge,’ this individual who is committing that egregious wrong should be punished with the madu walge (Ray fish tail).
Investiture anniversary ceremony is an advertisement gimmickry
What is most despicable and detestable about this present wasteful Tamasha is: last year on 8 th January for the most important swearing in ceremony only Rs. 6000.00 was expended of public funds. It being so austere , Maithripala himself spoke proudly about it. But , just a year later to celebrate just the anniversary and for advertisements connevted therwith many millions of public funds have been wasted most profligately and proudly by the same Maithripala !
All government Institutions published advertisements via supplements in all State newspapers on 8 th January 2016 wasting precious public funds with gay abandon to publicize the celebration . What is more irksome is , it is the notorious Shiral Lakthileke ,the co ordinating secretary to President Maithripala Sirisena who had sent circulars to the government Institutions in this connection. By this letter what is revealed is , despite president Maithripala telling the cabinet he is averse even to the use of the words ‘ president ‘s investiture’ , he himself has ordered his secretary to make grandiose advretisements in the newspapers through State Institutions. Believe it or not among these Institutions are several Institutions that are under the president himself.
The irony of ironies is , while Miathripala saying in so many words ,the ‘presidential investiture’ is his pet aversion , had himself on 8 th January 2016 , published 21 government advertisements on a full page in the Dinamina newspaper ; 13 in the Lankadeepa ; 22 in the Divaina; and 21 in the Daily News. In every other Sinhala, Tamil and English newspapers not mentioned herein too advertisements appeared.The cost of a full page advertisement is Rs.400,000.00 to Rs. 500,000.00. Based on this the total cost of the full page advertisements alone is Rs.40 million! This is apart from the public monies spent on other advertisements.There were a substantial number of half page advertisements too. Hence , the people must be made known what colossal amount of their funds in many millions were spent on this mad ‘merrython .’ The most ludicrous and ridiculous feature of these advertisement ‘circus’ is ,the crooked corrupt notorious ‘Kapuwa’ (an incumbent) decked in gold of Badrakali Kovil Galathenne also publishing a full page advertisement in connection with the president’s investiture .
Tamashas and mad merrythons of Maithripala and his merry makers at public expense notwithstanding , mind you it is hard cash of the people that is being wasted , not jack fruit seeds that are meant for throwing away.
In a country where the poverty line is so egregious ,and where mothers who cannot endure their acute poverty are throwing their children into rivers , or handing over them to the police , if the president of that country is indulging in wasteful Tamashas together with his stupid merry makers under various names and pretexts at public expense right in the midst of his own extremely poverty stricken people who are struggling to have a square meal a day, such a president if he has a conscience must feel most ashamed specially because it constitutes obscene ostentation .He must therefore ask pardon from the people, and of course , if he wishes get himself lashed with the madu walge (Ray fish tail) as a penance.
The anniversary celebration alias bogus circus at BMICH
What’s more ? Miathripala’s presidential investiture anniversary celebration did not just halt at advertisement gimmickry alone. A bizarre and a bogus ‘boru show’ ceremony was also held to mark the anniversary celebration at the BMICH. The worst part ? at that ceremony the true and sincere friends of his – the representatives of the Civil organizations and trade unions numbering 47 who made a major contribution for his elevation to the present position of president on 8 th January 2015 were not invited for the celebration.
It is well to recall , Ven. Athureliya Rathane Thera while he was with the Rajapakse government at that time was the first to officially warn Rajapakse - ‘Rajapakse mathathayo , you shall be defeated , and that is absolutely sure,’ in the same BMICH hall where he issued this warning , he is now relegated to the fourth row in the same hall when celebrating the first anniversary of your investiture ceremony , whereas Buddhadasa Vitharanes who were nowhere around at that time is today seated in the first row. Ven. Athureliya who could not endure this humiliation silently walked out even before your Tamasha was over. The writer of this article is fully aware of how several other ministers too went in a huff while criticizing the function.
Singer Lakshman Wijesekera who went from village to village singing songs on behalf of Maithripala to make him the president , and on whch account he was assaulted by the brutal Rajapakse goons and gangs is today ignored – not even an invitation was extended to him, but Kamal Adararachis who were never seen or heard at that time and who cannot even crow ‘cock a doodle do’ is now on stage singing ‘any cock would do’ songs .
Anniversary alias mad merrython
A grotesque souvenir was printed entitled ‘Ekama deyak maha balayak’ to commemorate the completion of first year as president . Among the ministers who contributed articles to it were only Champika and Rajitha . There wasn’t even a single article on behalf of UNP ers by a UNP minister in that souvenir even though it was the majority of the UNP who voted Maithripala to victory on 8th January 2015.
On top of this , an article was published which was so queer because it was so out of place because it is by a villain .The article was that of Professor Carlo Fonseka who not only stooped to do the sordid biddings of Rajapakse on 8 th January , but also filed a case demanding the withdrawal of the FCID established by good governance government to nab the corrupt and crooked culprits.
In any event it is no difficult task to search and find out who are the nincompoops and nitwits who organized this grand ‘mad merrython’ – the so called presidential investiture anniversary celebrations . Among them , the chief was the deputy minister of mass media , Karunaratne Paranavithane, the one who wears trousers not because of any sense of shame in him but to prevent the putrefying ba…ls of his being attacked by termites , and its stench from going out. His shameless nature was clearly demonstrated by him when he appointed Vasanthapriya Ramanayake his lapdog as the associate editor who even on 8 th January did his utmost to bring the Rajapakse regime back into power.
Mad merrython anniversary spills over to Independence square oiled by funds of daylight robber
As part of this mad merrython another celebration was held at the Independence square.The chief supplier of the necessary resources towards that was Ishara Nanayakkara of LOLC the notorious racketeer who was involved in shady deals with the Rajapakses, and who through the share market committed daylight robberies. Already there are on going investigations at the FCID against him over his fraudulent transactions committed using the stock market. It is therefore a most pertinent question whether Maithripala had his dress on when he was seated at that investiture anniversary for which a crook like Ishara had supplied the necessary materials ,for no president having true moral values and thinks truly of his national resposnsibilities would sit there with his dress on , in the company of a nudist like Ishara from the nudist camp of crooks.
Though about 2000 guests were invited and there was seating arrangement for over 2000, only about 400-500 invitees attended. From this it can be gauged , though Maithripala Sirisena had no sense of shame , a majority of invitees had that sense in them .
Foolish monkeys garland and crown their ‘King’
In conclusion what can be said is , humble Maithripala Sirisena who came forward to introduce the change –and install good governance has been duped and deluded by a group of acrobatic ‘monkeys’ and stupid ‘donkeys’ around him into making him a court jester while garlanding and crowning him as a’King’ from the outside.
This delusion under which Maithripala is laboring is further borne testimony to by the song these morons around him have composed. The same group that composed the song and put Mahinda on the imaginary King’s pedestal only to drag him down had put Maithripala too on the illusory pedestal.
A most stupid music video was composed tilted “He is our King” which depicts the dead Kings calling Maithri as one of them ; and had been tagged. However the presidential secretary has disclaimed it . Yet, it were the foolish donkeys and acrobatic monkeys who Maithripala has taken into his embrace today have made this video.
The morons Shiral Lakthileke , Karunaratne Paranavithane , Vasanthapriya Ramanayake , Chamudhitha Samarawickrema and A.B. Laliith Silva who routed and ruined Mahinda Rajapakse while they were in Dallas’ media team are now in the process of repeating the same performance , while taking Maithripala too on the same road of perdition.Those whom Maithripala has most lovingly brought close to him have set the wheel of inevitable self sought destruction in motion for him.
It is a well and widely known fact this group of ‘acrobatic monkeys and stupid donkeys’ despite having all the media at their beck and call could not succeed in building the image of Rajapakse then. It was only a few alternative media Institutions that built a public opinion against Rajapakse regime and united everyone against him , to bring the Rajapakse regime to its knees. But for them , even Maithripala would not have joined with the opposition.
Hence , by the time Maithripala realizes that it is because of his taking into his embrace these nincompoops and nitwits , that is the two legged donkeys and monkeys he courted disaster , it may be too late . Sadly by that time he would have gone to irretrievable lengths .Let us therefore remind Maithripala one thing : please for heaven’s sake don’t forget to take your much hyped Madu walge with you , for that will stand in good stead when the time comes to tan your own hide following realization dawning on you that it is because of the association with foolish donkeys , and acrobatic monkeys that you wrought destruction on yourself..
