(Lanka-e-News- 19.Dec.2015, 6.40AM) At a time when the Leftists were metamorphosing into Red wheeler dealers letting down their own side selling their policies wholesale , and because of them society was being torn apart , it was Dr. Wickremabahu Karunaratne who carried on the Left struggle intelligently with honesty and integrity for a long time. Finally , the present government of good governance has rewarded Dr. Karunaratne in appreciation of his sublime qualities.
When he was a senior lecturer in mathematics at Peradeniya University, in November 1982 he was ousted unceremonially . However the present government of good governance in keeping with its name has decided to pay him his pension until the date he reached 65 years considering his term as though he has been in service until that date.
The higher education minister Lakshman Kiriella tabled a cabinet paper at the last Cabinet meeting in this connection , and it received the Cabinet assent.
This benevolence of the government of good governance certainly will have earned the pleasure and won the appreciation of all right thinking people .
