The Minister further said that the persons coming from the uncleared areas to state controlled territory with gunshot injuries are injured terrorists, as the Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse had told. He had further said that the stocks of arms recovered during the past few days were the largest and the deadliest arms stockpiles.
Minister Lakshman Yapa pointed out that LTTE could have committed a massive destruction if a ceasefire was observed and talks followed. He further told that 32 countries of the European Union have asked the LTTE to lay down arms. LTTE sent senior cadres like Colonel Ruban and Lt. Colonel Sridharan for suicide missions and they would resort to more destructive acts in the last leg of the battle, the Minister said. |

| We will go to an election and obtain two third majority if it is not given |
|
| Minister Lakshman Yapa said that the UNP is facing a major setback. The ruling party will definitely win the Western Provincial Council election too. To strengthen UNP, the government has to be made stronger. UNP loses its bases in the society in each time it talks against the government. The Minister said that it was UNP's duty to give two third majority to the government and requested to do it to pass the Pradeshiya Sabha Act. He also vowed that the ruling party would go for an election to obtain two third majority otherwise. |
