| Hooligan Minister Rishard summoned to appear in court and show cause |

(Lanka-e-News-28.July2012, 10.00 PM) The appeal court day before yesterday (26) ordered Minister of Industries and commerce , Rishard Badurdeen , to appear in court on the 5th of September ,and show cause as to why he should not be punished on a charge of contempt of court.
The Appeal court President justice Ranjith Silva, issued this order based on a petition filed by a team of senior Lawyers against the Minister for threatening the Mannar Magistrate and then instigating a crowd to stone the courts.
The judge also directed that the petitioners or the witnesses shall not be subjected to threats by the Minister in the interim and everyone involved in threats shall be arrested.
PC Srinath Perera, Senior Lawyers Sunil Cooray , Lal Wijenaike, EC Peranda, Lawyers Chandrapala Kumarage , Ms. Nalini Walitunge and PC Jeffrey Alagaratne , were among the 8 Lawyers who filed the action. |
